If you are familar with The Le Games then this is one of their books for Clerics. Different kinds of builds and ideas on playing a cleric that might (or not) be part of the cleric class.

If you like clerics then this is a good book.

Unorthodox Clerics presents five full (non-prestige) classes, all variants of the traditional cleric.

LIKED: The classes present some interesting archetypes...in particular, I like the concept of the cultist as a combination cleric/rogue. Why that would be limited to evil and chaotic deities, I'm not sure. Also, the Chosen as a holy fighter who doesn't waste time on charisma reminds me of some paladins I know... The layout is clean and readable, and the graphics are attractive and appropriate.

DISLIKED: Occasional misspellings and gaps in the text were sometimes distracting, none of them so serious that they would prevent the use of the product. As most products that extend the cleric concept, this one suffers from not being able to really pin down the specific religions involved. As a result, the ideas here lack the richness and depth they might have if they were attached to particular deities.

Its usefulness is slightly diminished with the release of The Book of Exalted Deeds as some of the concepts used in Unorthodox Clerics are addressed in it (although usually as a prestige class rather than a full class). Still, at only $2, its hard to go wrong with these even if you find the classes contained within only marginally useful. I thought the Elementalist was a unique twist worth the cover price alone.

I am very glad you liked this book. Funny thing is that during editing I didn't care much for it at all, but the playtesters loved it. And now that it has been released it has gotten rave reviews! I guess the writer, Robert J. Hahn, knew far better than me! ~Le
