Mutants & Masterminds: Villainous Archetypes 2 the second in the Green Ronin Archetypes series of ten new supervillain archetypes for the superheroic M&M game. Archetypes (in the M&M sense) are packages of statistics, skills and powers to simulate various ?standard? types of characters from the comic book / heroic / superpowered genre.
This product follows the usual format for the archetype range from Green Ronin, each of the Archetypes comes with a strong full color illustration that conveys the sense of the Archetype?s abilities and style. The characters range in Power Level for 6 (above human) to 19 (nearly godlike), along with one power Level X (plot device) character. These are drawn from the comics and it is easy to see where the serial numbers were filled off, but they are well converted into the M&M system. Each has an introductory paragraph, laying out the character, then variations and capers, showing how the character can be adapted to different roles and giving each three adventure seeds. (The only error I saw was that the Alien Subjugator and the Artificial Intelligence share the same quote.)
Among the character types covered in this archive are: Alien Subjugator (PL 19), here to add the Earth to his collection of conquered planets. The Estrange Sidekick (PL 9), back to prove herself to the heroes who abandoned her. The Time Traveler (PL 10), a blast for the past. The plot device villain (Power Level X) is the ever popular, tentacled Cthuloid Horror here to commit unimaginable horrors.
