Traveller Main Rulebook
Publisher: Mongoose
by John G. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 10/27/2014 09:43:52
This is an expensive product for something that was ripped straight out of the d20 3.5 SRD with just the mechanic changed from d20 to 2d6. It's very much like CT in what it does and only the mechanic and skill lists are new, really.

This is really great, it provides a lot of different background options for the character's family. The Family Events table is really useful too! Thanks, Universal Machine!

Ship Book:Pukharra
Publisher: Moon Toad Publishing
by John G. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 08/29/2013 17:07:35
This is a fantastic start for a new third party publisher for the current edition of Traveller.

The Pukharra ship book is a nicely designed product, with a clear, easy to read layout. There is a colour overview of the ship interior and the detailed deckplans are nicely laid out and are again easy to use and read - it's easy to find the emergency hatch behind the turret and the colour interior art rounds off the product nicely. In game terms, this ship is an ideal vessel for player characters and has the legs (Jump 2) to get them into and out of most adventures. Full stats and details of the ship are provided, as well as details of the NPC crew of the Smiling Jack and full specs for a sealed Air/Raft.

My only relatively minor criticism is that, whilst the content mentions the ship in relation to the official Traveller setting, little information about the ship class, its history and missions is provided. Some may see that kind of information as pure fluff but I think that level of detail adds to the product's value, especially if it is to be used in the official game universe.

Overall, this is an excellent first product for Moon Toad Publishing and I highly recommend it.

Venture Class Frontier Courier
Publisher: DB Game Design
by John G. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 11/01/2008 04:22:05
DB Game Design have produced a concise, clearly laid out and useful ship book. The deckplans are easy to read and the (now typo free!) text is straightforward to read and works well with the deckplans. The ship itself is a nice adventurer class/type ship, ideal for small groups of Traveller players to use for jumping from system to system. The actual shape of the ship is distinctive and original (without being bland or outlandish) and fits in well amongst the other classic Traveller ship designs. The addition of 1" deckplans (for those that want/need them) is an excellent idea, especially for those who use minis in their games. An excellent, well designed book!

Book 1: Mercenary
Publisher: Mongoose
by John G. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 09/12/2008 07:43:18
The much awaited Mercenary by Mongoose Publishing hits most of the marks: it has new character generation, a process for creating mercenary tickets and a whole host of other useful information. But the one area that lets this book down is the weapons section. Some of the ranges of the weapons are clearly wrong, even by today's standards, and the inclusion of weapons not normally found in the official Traveller universe has caused some controversy. However, all things considered, this is a book well worth its price.

Spinward Marches
Publisher: Mongoose
by John G. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 09/07/2008 04:26:13
Mongoose Publishing has taken the Spinward Marches and brought it up to date for the 21stC. Martin Dougherty's eminently readable text is easy to understand yet imparts information about The Marches in a useful fashion. There are hints, nudges and nods to older Traveller materials throughout the book and ttis makes the book usabel with earlier versions of the game. I recomment this book to those new to Traveller and to old hands. The Marches are back!
