I really liked the 'Starship Options' and found then useful.

I purchased the book for the rules on creating small craft and found them similar in structure to the Starship design rules in the core book. I was slightly disapointed that the 'small craft design rules' do not blend seemlessly with the 'starship design rules'. A 100 Ton spacecraft designed as a 'starship' without the Jump Drive would be far superior to a 100 ton spacecraft designed as a 'small craft' - they should be identical.

Overall, I am happy with the purchase and enjoy using the product.

The Ship's designing has some flaws, nothing I cannot work with, but they are present and detract from the overall work from a 5-star rating. More important to me, the Referee, and player aspect is the well executed strata of the Navy Career field. I'm much more interested in well roleplayed Naval characters than dpi, or crunchiness--the story is the thing, not how-does-the-ship-get-built...that's aGM/ Referee's homework prior to the game.

Good book for what I needed, and those who think Like I do. "The play's the thing", Shakespeare wrote... ;-)

This expands quite thoroughly the ship design system. All in all, that's a good thing. The lack of a power point system, however, is retained, resulting in some unrealistic requirements. The expanded character generation is a lot more work for little gain. The deckplans were included in bitmaps; don't bother trying to zoom in, as they are at about 100dpi... meaning the capital ship plans are fuzzy and effectively useless. Mongoose left me sorely disappointed with this one, especially since there has been fan clamor for vector based deckplan images in the various PDFs.
