Overall this is a great primer for anyone new to the setting of A Song of Ice and Fire with lots of surface details on all the major locations in the series as well as many minor ones. Included are sections depicting life in Westeros in the various regions as well as a comprehensive history for each along with brief rundowns of known major and minor noble houses. Along with the fluff are statistics for the major characters.

As for what this guide is lacking, the complete lack of statistics for any of the houses or even a listing of their forces is sorely missing and enough for me to shave a star off of what would overwise have easily been a five star product. Overall I'd still reccommend this product even to non role players who are fans of the novels or the show.

When you produce something for a licensed property there is a tightrope that you have to walk. Green Ronin does this by stating that their line of products for this setting are not canon, instead an alternate world that you can explore. I am guessing that is the reason that you don’t see hard numbers for the major houses within this book.

I feel that they did do a good job presenting the material overall and give you details for the major npcs from the novels as well as various locations. It certainly provides a good foundation for a GM to create additional details for their campaigns.

If I was king for a day, I would have done some things differently but overall this is a strong product. As with the main book though, it is NOT printer friendly.

While well put-together and very informative, I can't give this book my full recommendation as it lacks almost everything I purchased it for. There are in-depth descriptions of the culture, geography, and history of Westeros and its many regions, as well as character stats for most of the major characters in the novels.

What it lacks is the primary things I was hoping to get for it: namely the House statistics for the major Houses from the novels. If you were hoping to use this book to play a House-focused game using one of the great houses, or just hoped to use them as benchmarks for your own custom-made house, you're out of luck here. It also lacks any information on said house's armies.

Buy it if you want lots of great fluff or stats for individual characters in the novels. Avoid it if you were hoping for solid numbers on the forces and macro statistics of each hose.
