Soldaty Grunts: 1
Publisher: Finger and Toe Models
by David W. [Verified Purchaser]

This set is nothing short of amazing!

It gives your paper figures a real video game/ movie feel to it. The textures are gripping and the fields around the figures can be trimmed or not, depending on personal preference.

I am not a big fan of "fields" around the figures, but these allow action poses and things like whips to be used without making them too delicate or compromising the figure.

These sets are a fantastic deal for the money. My favorite feature (besides the figures themselves) is the weapon and equipment cards that are included. You can customize the cards to be used with ANY RPG, or tabletop game.

5 Stars isn't near enough!

Village Pub Paper Model
Publisher: Dave Graffam Models
by David W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/27/2012 16:42:50

It's a Graffam for sure! As with all of Mr. Graffam's models, this features beautiful, rich color and a variety of layered options.

This beast is HUGE! (8 inches square) and about as tall. The construction was pretty straight-forward, and went together very easily. The only thing I felt it lacked was a sign for the tavern, to let people know that is what it was. I guess I can grab an extra one from the Grey Hair Inn.

Nova Blast Core
Publisher: Avalon Game Company

This game is a decent game, however there are as many negatives as there are positives. I couldn't help but feel that I was being overly generous with my rating, but felt a "3" would have been too harsh.

The artwork in this set is very unbalanced. Some of the artwork (like Adam Steel's figures, and the Fringe starmaps) are amazing, as well as the cover art. The templates are nice, and some of them have VERY beautiful graphics on them.

Some of the artwork is rather poor, and some of the Hive creatures are pretty badly drawn.

The rules seem a little hard to follow at first, but I am sure that once you have played this game a few times, then it will all make sence and could prove to be very entertaining.

One thing I noticed right away is that this set includes something rare that most publishers don't consider. A black and white "printer-friendly" version of all files. For people that want to conserve colored ink, this REALLY helps the overall rating of the game.

For roughly $8.00 USD, this game is one that seems well thought out, but also feels that it was rushed to get published, and could have benefitted from a little extra time in the drawing room to have more consistant artwork. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and there were many weak links to this set.

Fantasy Creatures - Set2: Duocorns
Publisher: PERMES
by David W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/26/2012 12:23:00

Beautifully illustrated, and richly colored, this set offers you many Doucorns, in various color schemes.

They are divided by page with different colored wings to separate them from the various clans of beasts. Very nice addition to any fantasy collection.

Dwarves: Set 1
Publisher: PERMES
by David W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/26/2012 12:08:16

I purchased this set because I am a HUGE fan of PERMES and the sets he has released. I have never been a big fan of dwarves. Out of the non-human races, they are among my least favorite.

THIS set changed my mind quickly! The fact that there are 36 figures in this set makes it an incredible value. That fact that is is PERMES's figures, makes it even more so.

Not only are there different dwarves in this set, there are types (traditional warriors, hill dwarves, and so forth). My personal favorites in this set are the Black Knights and the Sharpshooters.

You could very easily build a complete army with this set, and have it stand toe-to-toe with any other army.

I was SO happy to see this publisher went commercial! I have all of his non-commercial sets (AT-286 robots, Thri-Kreen army, and his Faeries). This set is great.

The colors are magnificent; very rich and shows off Reivaj's talent. I love the Catfolk bosses. They are large and imposing, and each has their own character.

The lynx scouts also have plenty of character, and could easily be used as scouts, spies or traitors.

This is a very good set. VERY FUN!

Inked Adventures: FREE Crypt Room

Once again, Inked Adventures springs another GREAT product on us, and this one is FREE on top of that.

This map features the brilliant hand-drawn that only BilliamBabble can produce. The colors are vivid, and the textures are rich. You can look at the terrain and see the 3D top-down affect that seems to JUMP off the page. From the crypts to the small goblinoid statues in the corner (at least I HOPE they are statues), there is mystery and danger lurking around (and in) every corner.

e-Adventure Tiles: Annual 2

Yes oh, yes, oh YES!

How on EARTH have I missed out on these sets? I LOVE the canal tiles, and the "sample" tiles included here are great!

My FAVORITE feature about these sets is UNIFORMITY! I LOVE that each tile is 6x6. In a game where you randomly "flip" tiles (like a deck of cards) this format is PERFECT!

Oh, and this set is FREE! I am sure I will be collecting MANY more of Skeleton Key's work!

Cog Cruiser:The Steam Ram
Publisher: Mayhem in Paper
by David W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 05/02/2012 12:32:23

Not only does Mayhem in Paper come out swinging on this one, but they aim for the fences! This follow-up to the popular Steam Tower, has a commanding presence on the battlefield, and has more options than imaginable. There are, of course, color options, and different configurations available, including tank tranks and optional turrets.

This model is beautifully laid-out and is simple enough for the hobbyist just starting out, and looks good enough when finished that even a verteran can be proud of. Brilliant colors drive this model, and the ease of construction allows for the builder to make MANY of these with little effort.

A brilliant product.

Into The Pit 4 - Stairs and Passageways
Publisher: Forever People
by David W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/28/2012 18:45:47

This set is very useful, and necessary for your maps. The color and quality of the set is top-notch, but the set seemed to lack something... Perhaps more variety in the tiles themselves. There was a few pages that were so close to the ones in the original set, that I wasn't sure that I didn't have them already.

The images are wonderful, as expected, but there are many images that seem to be repeated, and I think that the set could have been laid out a little better. One page had four copies of the same stairway. This could have been just ONE, and if someone wanted more, they could print that page several times. This is one case where "less is more."

Into The Pit 1 - Room Starter Set
Publisher: Forever People
by David W. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/24/2012 19:52:53

OMG! This set is AMAZING! It is packed with pages upon pages of some of the best artwork imaginable. The graphics and textures are better than any of this type I have seen. I printed of a few of the pages, and was so impressed, I had to print them all (and some like the hallways) several times.

There were a few things that I personally didn't care for. There was no consistency between the tiles. Some have 1" squares, and others didn't. The rooms were various sizes, but they don't seem to blend. I would have preferred the rooms been 5"x5", for example, with wallways and passages connected to the rooms themselves. This way, you could build a solid floor, and not have rooms of various sizes.

The biggest issue for me was the lack of a natural flow of the pieces. When you lay them on the table, it looks like beautiful rooms just scattered around. The lack a blending is disturbing, however, the artwork is so good, that you can't complain.

If some pieces are added (like more flexible corridors and hallways) in future sets, I could easily see myself purchasing the entire collection of these tiles.

Thanks so much for your review. In order to improve the floorplans could you contact me at chaugnurfaugn AT yahoo DOT co DOT uk and let me know a bit more specifically what it was about the consistency you didn't care for and tell me a bit more about what sort of thing you'd be after in the flexibility of corridors and hallways. I'm looking to overhaul the set to make version 2 and address some of the issues mentioned by reviewers so your feedback would be really helpful. If not, no worries and thanks for your purchase. Hope you get some good use out of the tiles!

Dave Graffam is known for his models with multiple layers, and vivid, rich colors. This particular model does NOT have layers, but it doesn't matter, because this model has everything you could ask for in a model. It looks INCREDIBLE, and it goes together VERY quickly and easy. It has supports where it needs them, and looks FANTASTIC assembled.
