It's doesn't happen often enough, finding a game that is designed to get out of the way and let the story happen. But Maschine Zeit is one of them. The game is designed to let each player set a goal and gives them each their moment in the spot light.
The GM (called the Director,) isn't the only one controlling the story, unlike in most games. In Maschine Zeit, the game and rule set encourages the players to help set the momentum and events of the game. Sometimes even making a roll to do one thing may give that player narrative control over something unrelated. Letting even the GM/Director cash in on those unexpected and fun moments.
As a minor warning, this game is not for the feint of heart. The horrific and macabre subject matter of Maschine Zeit simply may not be for everyone, so make sure you know what you're getting yourself into before buying this product.
