White Knights Black Hearts is a crime investigation adventure set in the 70's just like those stories Ed Brubaker writes for his heroes where there is no good-bad and everything is a shade of gray with concepts of mistrust and corruption. Very well written with plenty of npc's to interact and even suggestions of what music songs to play! This short adventure is a homage to that era of comics and movies and i'd really like to see more from the creative minds of Wild Talents.
This is the first adventure I've seen from Arc Dream and I was interested in seeing how they'd do it. Suffice to say, I was impressed!
The adventure is solid and atmospheric. The NPCs are interesting but it is the setting which really captured my imagination. It's very much an homage to the well meaning but misguided comics of the '70s and it is a great example of how to put together your own setting.
The only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't generic enough. Wild Talents has many wonderful settings and adventures which are more universal would perhaps better serve them. But in their defense, generic adventures also lose all that lovely flavour.
I would love to see more adventures from Arc Dream.
