A Place Beyond Hell (PFRPG)
Publisher: LPJ Design
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/12/2012 11:09:10
This is an excellent supplement for any GM looking to add some otherworldly horror to a Pathfinder campaign. The H'Laqu are horrors from another dimension that are detailed here with ritual feats, spells, and lore, plus a list of adventure seeds for each of their different incarnations.

The production values are top-notch - the layout and art are beautiful, and the writing is clear, well written, and well organized. NOTE: The PDF appears to be bookmarked, but the bookmarks did not work on my copy. This is an issue that may have been updated.

Five line drawings of characters that probably shouldn't be tangled with. This art set would work well in a modern RPG or supplement with a crime/criminal theme.

A great battlescene in the Amazing Stories of World War II series. This one features an encounter with the giant Mega-Desumasuku and the power armored Sons of Desumasuku, both of which would make great recurring villains in a WWII-based supers RPG.

Moreau is an android who is very skilled at invention and bioengineering. This supplement provides you with his stats, background, adventure hooks, and stats and info for one of his toughest minions. A great villain to drop into your ICONS game, or practically any superhero RPG. The art and layout are very good.

A great issue of a very well-done periodical - the formatting and art are excellent, and the material is very good. This particular issue focuses heavily on unarmed combat in HM, and also includes a bonus adventure for Frandor's Keep.

The Genius Guide to Exalted Domains of War and Ruin

This collection of Exalted domains for devoted single-domain clerics is packed with info on designing characters with great and terrible power. This is a well-written supplement for any group looking to add more chaos and madness to their campaign's clerical abilities, and as with all Super Genius guides that I have read through, this has excellent fantasy art, and is packed with information from beginning to end, with little to no wasted space.

For Love or Power
Publisher: Avalon Game Company
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/12/2012 09:43:23
For Love Or Power is a brief set of tips on introducing elements of romance into Pathfinder (or most any RPG), with a page and a half of tips and suggestions, and about one page of game mechanics.

The mechanics cover the more gameable elements of building a relationship in a pseudo-medieval setting - the social status of both parties, determining the expenses and time of courtship, and so on - with most of these factors representing challenges to the courtier's Diplomacy roll.

It's a workable system and probably worth the cover price if you are interested in gaming this aspect of your Pathfinder campaign, but it's not of much use to anyone who prefers to roleplay romantic relationships in their game.

A fairly accurate treatment of Excalibur for the 4E system - perfect if you're planning an Arthurian campaign, or relatively easy enough to file the serial number off of for use in a high fantasy setting.

This "Dark Avenger" treatment for 4E may remind you of someone, but I'll let you figure it out on your own. A pretty good treatment of an iconic superhero character for 4E - but I can't figure out how JLA is supposed to stand for Judicial Society of Adventurers...

[d20] Complete Characters #9 - Action Jack Allen
Publisher: Jason Richards Publishing
by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/11/2012 07:55:27
I'm a big fan of this series. The characters are unique and well detailed, and there is an incredible amount of story-rich material packed in just a few pages, with a high-quality piece of character art to top all of it off. Action Jack is your average Joe who turns into a two-fisted pulp hero whenever someone utters a special phrase. He is designed for pre-WWII-era pulp settings, but could easily appear in other pulp hero style settings as well.

This product is systemless, so that you can use it with the RPG system of your choosing.

Book of the River Nations: Exploration and Kingdom Building (PFRPG)

A nice set of supplemental rules for Pathfinder that bring mechanics for wilderness exploration, and kingdom and city building. Includes leadership roles (and the benefits for each, and penalties for not assigning them), the kingdom as a "character", building types, kingdom events, and more.

This is a great supplement for any GM wishing to add an element of empire building to their campaign - the possibilities for developing characters and storylines are very good (even if they're not the ones in charage of the kingdom!). This PDF is fully bookmarked for ease of reference.

Bakemono (PFRPG)

by William W. [Featured Reviewer]
Date Added: 03/10/2012 09:11:37
This supplement details the goblinoid race known as the Bakemono, with racial traits and paragon levels for the "changed things." A great supplement to pic up if you are looking to add an Eastern flavor to your Pathfinder campaign - Rite Publishing's PDFs are always well written, with great layout and art, and fully bookmarked for easy reference.

If you're adding Bakemono to your campaign, consider picking up Sutra Magic (from the same publisher) as well, to give your players and NPCs an edge over these nasty critters!
