When I see top-down figures, it brings me to a time when I was doing some early RPG and table-top games for the first time. They are like a warm blanket on a cold night. Something familiar and comforting.

To have THESE top-downs, is a true gift! The artwork is stunning and there are many great features, such as layers, and even the images without backgrounds.

Fantastic set of figures.

I use MapTools on occasion and this is quite a nice set of natural creatures and tokens. It is always nice to have representative graphics for the monsters players encounter. The detail is enough to get the gist, but not so great that you lose track of what is what. That's a tough balance which I think is struck well here. Worth the bucks on this one.

James Hazlenut aka Devin Night provides quality hand-drawn tokens, artwork, character portraits, and maps for use in RPGs. Many of the tokens I use in Maptool are Devin's. In the interests of full disclosure, I've also commissioned multiple works from him for story and setting illustrations. I was therefor pleased to see a new set of Devin Night tokens appear on DriveThruRPG.com.

The Dark Forest Token Pack features 79 fantasy creatures for use in your face-to-face or Virtual Table Top game. The product has two downloads; one to print and cut and the other to drop onto your VTT.

This token set includes Animals (Wolves, Bears, Spiders), Bugbears, Green Dragons, Giants (Ettin, Hill, Rock), Goblins (archers, spearmen, clubbers, and shamans), Hobgoblins (archers, fighters, shaman), and Orcs (archers, fighters, shaman, thief).

Aside from making great tokens, Devin gives back to the VTT community. He was a founding member of the now defunct Four Ugly Monsters. Once that site closed, he made all the FUM tokens available for free. If you'd like to see Devin's token work, visit his Immortal Nights site for over twenty free token packs.

This pdf is 6 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page credits.

Disclaimer: I don't use tokens for my campaign and got this file for free for purposes of this review. I freely admit that I more or less lack an overall frame of reference for tokens.
The four pages are taken up with tokens to be printed out and used for minis. There is at least two of each, some have more variations of same creature. The most have many variations of them. The different types are:

-Bears
-Earth Elementals (could also be used for Stone Giants or Golems and the like)
-Ettins
-Green Dragons
-Goblins
-Hill Giants
-Hobgoblins
-Orcs
-Wolves

Conclusion:
I already mentioned that I don't have too much experience with tokens. That being said, I liked the artworks as they are not as comic-like as the ones I've seen in other token files. They actually look a bit gritty and dark. The problem with the bear head D_M has pointed out has been fixed. While I like the artwork and know that art is expensive, I'm not sure whether 6 bucks is a good price for this. Due to not being too cheap, I'll settle for a final verdict of 4 stars.

This product is 6 pages long. With a cover and credits page. (2 pages)

The other four pages are taken up with tokens to be printed out and used for mini's. There is at least two of each, some have 3 of the same creature. There most have many variations of them. Unless I miss counted there is 102 total tokens. The different types are

This Token Pack contains:
Goblins
Hobgoblins
Orcs
Wolves
Bears
Ettins
Green Dragons
Earth Elementals
Hill Giants

Closing thoughts. The art is good on the tokens and they would be simple to use. If you want tokens for these types of creatures it is a good pickup. Now with that said their is one error. I am not sure how it happened or why. But on page 3 of the book the two bear tokens only show the bears from the shoulders forward. The rest of the bear image is just not there. That is two tokens that are messed up... well i guess unless you want a token for a bear head.

With that error and price I am giving this a 4 star review. The rest of it looks nice and I imagine the publisher will fix the bears at some point.
