This “battlemap” is really a complete small dungeon at 1" = 5 ft. scale. The tomb itself is a fairly large room, but there are half a dozen or so other rooms/encounter areas included. The “information” file includes a key, but it’s written in very poor English, and although some of the bits are easy to decipher (“expiration” instead of “exit”), some are not (“Does not release his sword till then while his relics were not sent to him by the teleport”). The maps are beautifully drawn and richly detailed; the staircase map offers some slight customization via PDF layers. This product doesn’t include the isometric maps that add so much to some of LZW’s other products; I state this not as a complaint, but as a point of information.

Iron Nugget

I hate using words like best, because, in 10 years of reviewing, you tend to see a lot of material that always outdoes the previous. However, with Tomb of the Fallen Angel, I feel confident in saying this is the best rendered dungeon map I have seen in my years of gaming. Despite having the traditional overview appearance, the detail of the walls and floor shimmer into a 3d feel. This is the kind of map where you design a series of encounters based off of what you see.

If you buy one map this year, I highly recommend this one. Buy it, print it, laminate it and wow your players.

I loved the level of detail and coherence of the set, but nobody noticed that Tile C from the tomb is missing in the PDF? Can you send the missing tile?

This is a set of four locations, each made up of several pages that need to be printed and "assembled" - they need to be lined up and attached to thick card. Most of the page breaks run along walls or the edges of the 1 inch tiles, but there are a few places where the break is mid-tile which means you have to be extra careful when assembling. There is an amazing level of detail on each of these, with wonderful lighting effects that create a real sense of menacing dungeon. There are a couple of spots on the maps where columns obscure the tiles behind them, but this is not a huge problem, and if given the choice I would rather have the columns there. Overall, I am very impressed.
