The setting is evocative and is a new spin on the cyberpunk run of the mill settings. However, the execution could use alot more polish. Character creation is kind of a mess. It's muddy and unclear. The book has a cut and paste feel to it. The art is good for the most part but overall the book could have used a professional editor and layout person. The book also lacks any character examples. It would have been nice to see some character templates or a few fully formed characters to get a good idea what they are suppose to look like.

I purchased this as an implulse buy simply because I thought the ancient aliens and cyberpunk mashup sounded refreshing. I wish I just bought the PDF and not the print/PDF bundle. Oh well...

Venger always produces fantastically over the top gonzo settings and games. BDT is no exception. This game uses the same rules that he created for Alpha Blue. Its a rules light system that is elegant and fast. BDT takes on Vampire. Its not another skin of VotM. Its a game that focuses on what being a vampire is... a demon. Anyhow this is a fantastic buy for the price. Well worth it. I plan on running this. You should too.

After reading the game I envision a gritty fantasy mashup of a Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser meets Sons of Anarchy... or the Sapranos. Heck with this rich setting both would rock. The system reminds me of a Fate lite system. It's actually quite elegant. I really like the setting of Everthorn which is know in the world as the City of Black Fog. Its basically a gigantic overpopulated city that has been build ontop of older versions of itself for a thousand years. Ripe for story ideas! You could also do a really good gritty sword and sorcery detective story game. After reading it, alot of campaign ideas pop off the pages. Politics, Machiavellian plots and moral ambiguity runs roughshod in this setting. I would say it was well worth the cost. It really is a good investment.
