Upon running this, the feel of combat was very whiffy - attack rolls are often ineffectual, and armor being all or nothing... the option for critical hits is, IMO, something that shouldn't be optional. The PC "races" are fairly typical. The characters are largely competent in field. It's also fairly brutal to low level PCs. For a party of 4, only one player ended with the same character they started with... and the campaign ended in a TPK.
Having borrowed a friend's copies of the original edition, this is mostly a reorganization of the original, and application of existing errata. It's pretty, it's playable, it's combat is simple and brutal, and it's a distinct change of pace from both WFRP and D&D...

I just saw a review of DRAGON WARRIORS on Youtube. I found a PDF of one of the old Corgi books and fell in love with the style of this game. I love how armor and shields work, and how the magic is so varied between the magic-using professions.

But more importantly it blends real medieval culture into a fantasy game that makes for a world that feels so much more alive and rich. It is amazingly customizable and I can't wait to run a campaign using it.

It is obvious that the authors are well read in fantasy fiction, and have built in something that has a historical feel and can be customized to a number of fantasy settings. It is exquisitely well thought out.

EXCELLENT!!!

Physical quality of the book is excellent and delivery was ridiculously quick.

This was my first RPG and to be honest I bought the digital and a new hard copy out of nostalgia really.

I'm glad that I did. The handful of changes are good. Renaming armours to make them more medievel and less generic fantasy RPG are a nice touch, and all of the suggested optional rules and approaches add something (not that I'll use them all but they all make sense)

Yes this is a reformatting of the game originally released in paperback by Corgi Books way back in the day. This system is fairly simple. What I love about this game is it's tone. I think another reviewer used the expression of "dark folklore" which is apt. It is a setting where there is a lot of superstition and fear of the unknown. Good set of monsters (you get more with the Bestiary). If you are looking for a lowish magic setting rules lite system, you could a lot worse than Dragon Warriors

Dragon Warriors is a joy: a slick, fun system and a vivid fantasy world that keeps drawing me back, year after year. This gorgeous and long-awaited new edition is a rare second chance to get in on the best-kept secret in gaming.

I'm a long time fan of Dragon Warriors from the days of the original Corgi paperbacks in the 1980's. This consolidated, streamlined edition is a wonderful addition to any gamer's library. In terms of system complexity, it's best described as occupying the space between Red Box D&D and AD&D and is very much a child of that era. That said, I have no hesitation in recommending this game for new players or casual gamers who want to go old school without a lot of number crunching. The default setting, The Lands of Legend, is the real motor under the hood of Dragon Warriors; being one of the earliest "dark folklore" settings to go back to the source material rather then sword and sorcery. TV shows like "Robin of Sherwood" and movies like "The Wicker Man" clearly informed the writers and give the game a robust, earthy feel. Highly recommended.
