This battlemat was exactly what I was looking for my ocean-themed campaign. I love the details, multi-level mat feature, and the reverse option for Ghost ship. My players went nuts over this!

I purchased the digital version and opted to print and laminate the pieces myself. Mirroring the ghost pieces to the pirate ship wasn't difficult, but the images aren't perfectly mirrored - there is the tiniest bit of white space around the edges of the ship. It would be cool if the upper levels of the mat had ocean around just the immediate edge of the boat so that the levels blend a bit better when laid on top. That's pretty picky because overall I love this mat and look forward to using it again and again!

As a matter of full disclosure I have a professional relationship with Lord Zsezse Works and Black Scrolls Games, an affiliated studio. I have no stake in the company and I pay for every product that I've ever received from them. This ship is cool. I got it as a promo bundled with an island and ocean map from Black Scrolls and they go very well together. There are plenty of spots on the ship that make a GM or player say "I wanna put that in the game!" Highly recommended.

Beautiful ship set. Fabulous utility for playing scenarios in the Great Age of Sail. But, I do not game in the Great Age of Sail.

4-star rating because it is beautiful but nearly useless for a fantasy setting. Most races and nations in fantasy settings do not have gun powder weapons. In the 'verse I play in, only one nation of humans and the dwarves (order & chaos) have such weaponry. That means only 17% utility.

Now, what could change that would be one of two changes or many even both if I can be so bold. 1) Leave the weapon ports, but remove the cannons on both decks and let the purchaser fill in the mounts with ballista/trebuchets of their own. 2) Provide trebuchets for the open deck and ballista for the weapons deck. Granted, you have provided ballista-like weapons on the fore-deck (or are they just harpoons) and a dragon fgurehead, but there does not appear to be any other fantasy touches.

Would love for you to do the changes specified. Thank you otherwise for a beautiful ship.

You get two sailing ships for the price of one in this nicely-done pack by LZW. As in all LZW products, the artwork is quite good. Due to the nature of the maps, this pack doesn’t include isometric views, nor would they be especially helpful. LZW did, however, include exploded views to help you see how the decks stack up together. You can choose to print the ships with or without water, and with or without a grid in both cases; you cannot, however, get rid of the cannon. The ghost ship is essentially the pirate ship redressed with glowing green furnishings. Unfortunately, LZW hasn’t yet taken steps to improve the English in the instructions and annotations; a product published in English needs to use good English. In the ship diagrams, for example, the bowsprit is mislabeled as the “bowstrip.”

Dear Christopher, Please download the Pirate Ship again, we've updated the description with our friend, Rich Crotty, who lives in Seattle and his English is much better than ours ;) There is no bowsprit in the new version. And yes, you're right about our English, we started to update all of our products a few weeks ago. Thank You! Antal Kéninger Lord Zsezse Works

Decades ago graph paper and imagination were all you needed to get a game together. But as technology got better and immersion moved to the forefront of tabletop RPGs, battlemaps have become a near necessity at a good DM’s table. With cheap projectors and color printers, there’s no reason Dungeon Masters should be rolling out archaic graphic paper. Especially when Lord Zsezse Works is cranking out phenomenally colorful and detailed masterpieces for your PCs to battle in.

The level of detail and cartography in every map puts your players in the world. Their battlemaps are realistic, using rich and multilayered colors in every square. Also, Within every product, the designers go the extra mile of including several versions of the map. They have an online version, perfect for online games or projection based battlemaps, and a version that’s a little more print friendly. Both of these maps are provided with grid and without grids. Battlemap: Pirate & Ghost Ship is a double dose of mapping fun. It includes two versions of a debilitated, one of a ghost ship and one of a pirate ship. Each ship is made up of 3 decks, each deck well detailed from the cannons to the beds. The dreary conditions on both maps push an atmosphere of despair perfect for a sea campaign. IN addition to the two different maps, they also include the maps with and without water.

For the Dungeon Master I use these maps for sea adventures. Multiple decks are a great touch and just are not found in a lot of ship maps for some reason. The level of detail goes a long way into allowing you to create realistic boarding encounters.

The Iron Word Battlemap: Pirate & Ghost Ship is a large scale series of ship battlemaps perfect for sea combat. With the ability to print, project or beam it to your players laptops or tablets, there is no reason to not have Lord Zsezse Works artwork in on your hard drive and ready to go for the right occasion.

A truly awesome set of maps! Probably the next year I'll start a 50 Fathoms campaign, and this map is very useful and very well crafted. Recommended for every pirate based game.
