While I enjoyed very much the exterior design of the tower, I'm not a big fan of the interior design. The dice don't roll as well as in the other Dice Tower from FDG. I had to cut a wider space in the holes at the bottom so the dice will roll out more smoothly. I don't consider this to be difficult to build until you start the dragon, and that's only an aesthetic piece anyway.

The positive: When assembled, this is a gorgeous, eye catching piece of papercraft. It has definite wow factor and looks great sitting on any table.

The neutral: This is a challenging project which will take both talent and patience to accurately make the cuts, scoring & a few of the assembly parts come together. You will need to be comfortable using the exacto knife for trimming & cutting, especially the dragon pieces.

The bad: When you toss dice into the top of the roller, the dice are bounce around a little, but the angle of dice shute isn't sufficient to kick the dice out reliably out into the collection area. This is especially true for d4 & d6. I was able to easily get them out by shaking, but I don't want to have to shake my dice roller.

The collection area is thin and dice come out in the very middle, then bunch up there. Rolling multiple dice quickly overwhelms the ability to roll & gather dice. More than 5 or 6 dice can easily be too many for this roller.

Editorial: If you want a dice roller that is more functional & easier to assemble, get the Ultimate Dice Tower from Fat Dragon Games.

If you want a pretty ornament that looks impressive on your table and you like challenging cuts, get this one.

I've been watching Fat Dragon Games' online website for some time now. A friend gave me the disk for The Ultimate GM Screen II, partly because he couldn't build it and I have an awesome printer, so I gave it my best college try and built it. Not bad for my first time doing "Card Stock Modeling"! I showed my gaming group the website and they "ooooed" and "aahhhhhed" over some of the things. One thing we can always use around the (big, as in 2) gaming table(s) are dice towers. When I showed them the first dice tower, it got a good response. When I showed them the second tower I got, "NOW THAT I LIKE!" I bought them both after the gaming session and started work on the Ultimate Dice Tower 2 that night.

Follow the instructions to the LETTER! You -have- to put these things together IN ORDER! Skip a step or skip ahead and you'll find yourself reprinting parts and wasting time and money starting over.

I put this dice tower together in my spare time so I never really tracked how many hours I put into it. I watched many episodes of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (the ones with Autolycus: The King of Thieves) and jammed out to tunes. I'd have to say around 5 to 6 hours, not rushed at all. I think that I could do another one in 3 to 4 hours (have to wait for glue to dry before you can go forward) with no sweat.

I edged with gray and black markers, depending on what color was closest. I learned that you MUST have a sharp XACTO blade to make good cuts. Score VERY lightly or you WILL go all the way through the paper! That's with 110# card stock too! Take your time and learn as you go.

How did mine turn out? ;D NAILED IT! >.> Well... a little better than =\ Close Enough... I didn't trim the rim down as much as the instructions said I should. After rolling some dice in it, I found it was hard to pick them out, so I trimmed it down to match the pictures and it not only looks better... I ROLLED A CRIT! (and a few other numbers too) Very large dice will NOT fit through the openings. All standard dice have no problems! I even threw a hand full into it and they all came out with no problems. The splitters in the volcano help mix up the dice and tumble them for random numbers.

I'll post a review of Ultimate Dice Tower 1 after I finish building it. I should have it done by next weekend, maybe sooner if I watch some Xena episodes with Autolycus in them... >.>;

That is all....

To be honest, I have not completed construction of this dice tower, as of this writing... This thing is gorgeous, but it is very complex! The complexity is the killer, It is comprised of a great many, very complex cut, pieces, which is why it has not been finished. The dragon figure is really beautiful, but it is made up of so many pieces. The idea of cutting the parts out with an X-acto knife and a metal ruler, were very quickly abandoned -- the cuts are too difficult, and complex, to use that approach. After switching to using scissors, it was still proving to be hard on the hands to make so many, small, and difficult cuts.

To be fair, this piece will be stunning, when finished. If you don't mind really complex paper models, go for it! If you don't enjoy complex paper models, with loads of small, difficult to cut out pieces, then avoid this model. It is a remarkable model when finished, and it will look incredible on your gaming table, but it will take a lot of work to produce it. Not for the faint of heart in paper modeling. Cheers!

Hey guys this is another great product by Fat Dragon Games. However, if it is certainly an advanced model that will take some time to build. If you have never done card stock modeling before do some simpler projects before you tackle this one. I have recently built one for my private collection. If you would like to see a complete build video please visit my you tube channel and watch @ : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de0z5j83RYI .
