Once again Rite Publishing comes through with an fun addition to the Pathfinder/3.5 universe. The book itself is well formatted and illustrated. Coming in both a print friendly version and a more ornate version is a plus. The layout is well done and everything is easy to find via the table of contents.
This expansion features Gargoyles as a playable race, and a new racial class to go along with them. Right from the start Gulliver doesn't shrink from task of introducing a vibrant new race. Opening with a first person narrative of how these particular Gargoyles came in to existence this book moves right in to character creation.

Gargoyles as PCs are a powerful race, and while they are free to pursue any class they want, the Paragon racial class fits them and the back story created in the narrative quite well. My one caution to GM's is that again, the Gargoyles make for a powerful race. Not overpowered but enough that at first level they will far outstrip your average Halfling rogue or human fighter in abilities and damage done. One balancing element is that they are Gargoyles, and as such may not be able to stroll in to the local outfitters for a tent and a 10' pole. Anything with natural armor, the ability to glide and fly and appendages that are weapons has the makings of a powerful tank. With that warning though, I've found them to be well balanced in their own right. They would make a very interesting addition to a campaign.
There are other aspects that promote some balance - for instance Gargoyles get a +2 racial savings throw against enchantments, but if they fail their save, they suffer the effects for twice the normal duration.
With lots of new Gargoyle specific feats and new spells to add to your campaign, you're getting a complete package when you purchase In the Company of Gargoyles. If you have a group willing to allow a balanced but more powerful player character, a Gargoyle character will provide a unique experience.
