Gothic Campaign Compendium An Endzeitgeist.com review This massive compilation of all Carrion Crown-plug-ins clocks in at 256 pages, 1 page front cover, 2 pages editorial/SRD, 1 page ToC, 1 page dedication/backer-list, 1 page back cover, leaving us with a massive, huge250 pages of content, so let's take a look, shall we? This book was moved up on my reviewing-queue due to me receiving a hardcover for the purpose of an honest and fair review. So, after a collection of nice introductions by the authors, we dive right into the material presented, so let's begin a short recap, shall we? The carrion crown plug-ins were not only Legendary Games' first line of products - they also, to me, remain one of the most interesting product-lines due to a variety of factors. Of course, over the inception of the line, a variety of feats, class abilities and archetypes have been provided - and, as befitting of a compilation, e.g. the feats now do sport a massive table, rendering the organization pretty simple on the G...

d20 Modern Core Rulebook (d20M) As one of the other posters pointed out, this is a scanned and OCR'd edition, NOT the original electronic file. It is being advertised as text searchable, but not all the text has been OCR'd. This means that it is not completely text searchable and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as an original electronic file would. Thanks for taking my money!

Dungeon World GM Screen This is JUST what the doctor ordered. The print quality is excellent and I think the artwork evokes and inspires the game. I really like David's artwork on this. I like how he uses shadow and how he's kept the artwork simple, but interesting. I think this will be very useful for both GMs and players to have Basic Moves (with reference page #s), Equipment Tags, Special Moves and more just a simple glance up from the table. Well worth the money. Nothing is EVER perfect, so 4/5 stars, but I have yet to see a better Dungeon World screen....

Adventure! Rulebook

Adventure! Rulebook Adventure! is a game of "pulp" high adventure set in the 20's and early 30's. The game wants to hearken the feel of Flash Gordon, Indiana Jones, The Shadow and other cliffhanger serial movies and books. Does the game do this? Is it fun? I'll break it down and show how the game has some strengths and weaknesses that almost pull it off. Layout: First things first, lets get to the PDF layout out of the way. Though this may not be a deal breaker kinda element it can determine ease of use and when having to flip though everything when first starting out can be quite frustrating. Everything is pretty easy to find and reference which is a good thing. The setting is located in the beginning in book 1 and laid out nicely. Book 2 has all the rules and character creation. Again everything is clean and neat and laid out in a logical easy to find fashion. Now the downside. The setting is again set up front and written like you joined a secret order. Some of the notes and typing...

Vornheim: The Complete City Kit This book has a ton of good ideas, but the presentation of those ideas was not in a style that I enjoyed reading. The artwork was also a let-down, it has a very raw 'punk' aesthetic that just didn't appeal to me. It just wasn't to my taste. I felt like it was trying a bit too hard to be 'edgy' and 'adult'. It is a pity that the writing and artwork let down the ideas propelling the work; with a little more effort this could have been something truly great. Still, if you are a fan of random tables and like the particular style of art in the book then the ideas here make it worth the price of admission. Any one of the pages in this book has enough ideas to become the seed of a memorable session, and it would have been nice to see those ideas expanded upon. If you are a fan of the anarchic tongue-in-cheek style of books like 'HOL' or 'The Munchkin's Guide to Power Gaming' then you might like this book too, though a lot of the humor is darker. If you are looking for a similar w...

Compact & Worn Starship Deck Plan 6x6 Tiles This is a beautifully quirky little product that will work ideally with the more humorous sci-fi RPGs like Red Dwarf, Bulldogs, Floating Vagabond, TFOS, Star Riders, etc (the art style would seem to suit these better). Having been primed by the free ship a little while back I was waiting for this to appear and it doesn't disappoint- 12 small small spacecraft to act as shuttles, runabouts or small transports for the spacefarer on a budget, each full of their own individual "character". The "Introduction and Buyer's Guide"is every bit as useful as the deckplans and could lead to a roleplaying session or two by itself. I shall be looking for more products along the same lines, hopefully a larger ship or sci-fi geomorph tiles. Highly recommended....

Exalted: Tale of the Visiting Flare The art is amazing. The book was extremely high quality in terms of the production that went into it and the printing. The physical copy is well worth the price tag. It's a very entertaining read.

In The Company of Gelatinous Cubes (PFRPG) This installment of the "In the Company of..."-series clocks in at 10 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, leaving us with 7 pages of content, so let's take a look!* So, we begin this pdf, in the tradition of Rite Publishing, with an expertly-written piece of in-character prose: "Glub." The sheer brilliance of this reduction of the conditio pituitae in a manner of linguistic atomization should be considered the ultimate piece of flavor - nowhere else has the sheer courage to express the fundamental truth of an existence been so brilliantly crafted in such a concise way. When the further physical descriptions and society/religious stances of gelatinous cubes are elaborated upon in a repetition of said sequence of letters, duplicated and then, disintegrated beyond guttural sounds, one cannot help but notice the very limitations our own fragile language imposes on communication, rendering the feeble attempts to convey an existence's experiences moot. Within the ab...

Christina Stiles Presents: Waysides - Rock Bottom An Endzeitgeist.com review This installment of Rogue Genius Games series depicting taverns clocks in at 14 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 2 pages of SRD, 1 page advertisement, leaving us with 9 pages of content, so let's take a look... ...or rather, let me go on a slight tangent: We all know the place, or at least, anyone who has lived in a town of a certain size does: There always is this one bar that, by any rights, should no longer exist. You always see the same failed existences shamble in and out of it and it exudes a palpable aura of desperation, sadness and tears. And if you're like me, sooner or later when all other bars are closed, you find yourself stumbling into the place, only to regret it almost immediately. That is, unsurprisingly, the type of place Rock bottom is - a tavern where those down on their luck, the lost souls, meet. This notion of decrepitude is further enhanced by several factors - the read-aloud text and details enhance just this t...

The Doom-Cave of the Crystal-Headed Children
von Edward V.

Hinzugefügt am: 08/31/2015 18:56:42
The Doom-Cave of the Crystal-Headed Children This module for Free RPG day has really nice art, a really nice layout and map. The module itself deals with what you believe to be an ancient stone, but what is actually some sort of complex alien machine whose purpose is well beyond your knowledge. There is a lot of alien technology through the lens of characters who just can't understand it in this adventure. Some aspects of this adventure are written to be gross and/or offensive, and some people may find that in bad taste. I, however, found the really strange descriptions of things happening in the first few rooms pretty refreshing, because they will evoke genuine feeling in the players. Lamentations modules usually "go big" and have some sort of lasting effect on the player characters or the campaign, and there's plenty of that here. A series of Things You Want To Touch But Shouldn't will tempt the players. Some of the worst effects are rather benign and up to the Referee's interpretation (such as, "You get cancer.") Overall fu...

LotFP Rules & Magic Free Version
von Edward V.
Verlag: Lamentations of the Flame Princess
Hinzugefügt am: 08/31/2015 18:37:59
LotFP Rules & Magic Free Version This free version retains all the rules and layout but blanks out all of the art in the book. It is a player's guide, and all of the mechanics that a player would run into are explained. Lamentations is a re-imagined version of Basic Dungeons & Dragons (very similar to the Mentzer Red Box rules) designed to evoke the feel of gritty pulp fantasy... Clark Ashton Smith, HP Lovecraft, and Robert E. Howard's stories all fit in well here. Combat uses a d20 with ascending AC, with very similar math to D&D 3e and 5e. Skills are resolved using a d6. The spell lists have been mostly re-worked to dump a lot of "magic artillery" spells in favor of illusion and reality manipulation. Much like Mentzer D&D this is a really polished system for fantasy gaming. The classes are all much more plain than basic D&D, but the stripped-down nature of it makes everything move smooth, fast, and logically. Despite having an 18+ warning on the front, without the art there is nothing too shocking about this game...

Survival of the Fittest The first adventure for SotDL and a great introduction to the RPG. Essentially, it is Blair Witch Project meets a D&D hexcrawl, as the PCs start lost in the woods after a bandit attack and must survive. The adventure is 3-4 pages long and showcases the intention that Level 0 adventures should be great one shots into which a random collection of PCs can be thrown into the grim world of adventure with little prep required on either the part of the GM or players.
