This is the full book, complete with all Player and Game Master information for Novice to Veteran play!

Sean Patrick Fannon’s vision of Epic High Fantasy comes to life for Savage Worlds.

"The heart of any lasting and memorable roleplaying campaign is the setting. Is it vivid? Alluring? Full of mysteries, as well as straight-ahead challenges?

If the answer is “Yes” to all of these, you are in good hands.

SHAINTAR is deep in “good hands” territory.

Just paging through the Players Guide makes you want to play, and it’s genuinely hard to create a boring character using this book; everything works together to make your Hero interesting. And that’s even before you get to the four detailed Major Enemies lurking in Shaintar. Or the rules for alchemy, or the tantalizing glimpses we get of the Black Lantern and Grayson’s Grey Rangers . . .

A winner. Get this book." -- Ed Greenwood, creator of The Forgotten Realms®

Savage Worlds fans will find a lot to love about Shaintar: Legends Arise:

  • Eleven distinctive Races with many specialized Racial Edges for each.
  • Over 60 new Edges, including Professional, Combat, and Power Edges.
  • Expanded options for magic, including Applications for Sorcery, Extended Casting, and more.
  • New and expanded rules for Alchemists and Artificers, as well as personalized magic items.
  • Setting rules like All Out Move, the Deep Magic, and Lead from the Front.
  • Information about the many nations and factions that drive the stories of Shaintar.
  • A complete Timeline featuring thousands of years of Shaintar's history.
  • A Denizens section with many dozens of characters and monsters, as well as five new Monstrous Templates and templates for changing almost any Denizen to any of the eleven Races.
  • An expanded Weapons, Armor, and Gear list for epic fantasy gaming, as well as a Resource system to replace "counting coins" for wealth management.
  • Extensive advice about Game Mastering an Epic High Fantasy setting.
  • Three Legendary Tales, "Countering the Terror," "Red Store Rising," and "Return to Honor, Return to Glory."

Anyone seeking Epic High Fantasy adventure will enjoy this book, as will anyone wishing to add lots of great new material to their Savage games!

This book covers Novice through Veteran Rank gaming. Shaintar: Legends Unleashed covers Heroic and Legendary play.

Have a quick question regarding Essence. In some of the stats for various Mages their Essence has two values, the second one being in brackets. Can you tell me the significance of the brackets?

I have to admit that I'm completely confused about the status of Shaintar.

First of all, I don't see an immediate answer to the question why the world needs yet another high fantasy setting featuring the usual bunch of suspects. From the above, it seems that the main point is that it is custom-fitted to Savage Worlds - regrettably, to the old version of Savage Worlds. Not your fault, of course (you're in very good company; quite a few interesting settings appeared immediately before the SWADE came out and basically annihilated their effort). Of course, you can always "somehow use" the material for SWADE anyway, but I thought that the whole point of such an endeavour would be to have something you can really use "out of the box"?

But SWADE was in 2018, and life goes on. People ask for a SWADE conversion and character sheets here, and the answer is that you can get one by going to Facebook and asking the right person the right kind of questions. Are you serious? Why...See more

I hear you Erik, and understand the confusion. The last year has been tough on many small publishers trying to keep on track with their production and Savage Mojo is no different. The plan remains the same, though: The new edition of Suzerain (updated and expanded for SWADE) is called Suzerain Legends and fully integrates Shaintar. The products required to make that happen are planned but development has stalled while we look for a reliable production partner to replace the one we lost last year.

I can't give a time scale on when things will ramp back up, but my advice now is the same that it always was. If you're thinking about buying a book or module for VTTs, whether it's from a small publisher or large, ask yourself whether it'll be useful to you now. If yes, then go ahead; buy it and enjoy. If not, then don't buy it. You can get thousands of hours of joy out of RPGs and there are thousands of products that may help you with that.

All the best,

MMK

We do indeed. Howard, our Shaintar realm master, has been working on it with his talented crew. Contact him on the Suzerain Legends facebook group or send a message from the front page of the Savage Mojo website and we'll get you sorted out!

Howard has been doing a great job of the conversion notes for Shaintar. Let me check in with him and see if he has a SWADE-compliant character sheet yet.

Howard got back to me on the Suzerain Legends Facebook group. If you go there he has a link to the SWADE CS he's using, Dillard. https://www.facebook.com/groups/SuzerainLegends/permalink/3849264728526927/?comment_id=3849634765156590

Hi Justin. There is a whole new edition of the Suzerain universe coming out which brings Shaintar and Suzerain together fully. The combined rules system is designed for SWADE. We've already released the first free downloads for that (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/112/Savage-Mojo/subcategory/3927_31720/Suzerain-Legends) and there will be plenty of new Shaintar content coming. Because we're a small publisher, we don't have the resources to go back and rework existing material from Shaintar: Legends Arise/Unleashed or from Suzerain Continuum Edition for SWADE. Fortunately, the changes between Savage Worlds editions aren't so extensive that they make that material useless, because there's a lot of great content for Savage Worlds Deluxe (from a lot of different licensees).

Are the rules in this the full assortment a player would need to get into Savage Worlds high fantasy or is the core still needed?

(not asking for me as I will be getting at least this, the core and the fantasy companion. I am however asking about players who only want to invest into one book)

As with all Savage Worlds licensees, we're not permitted to put core rules into the setting books. You always need a copy of the SW core book from Pinnacle before getting the setting book you want - that's how Pinnacle makes their money, which is fair right? Once you have that, Legends Arise is all you need though.

I understand. I was thinking if they did something similar to Interface Zero for Fate. But fate is a different beast entirely.

Thank you for answering!

Received a copy of 'Immortal Legends' today for myself (GMing), this setting is so close to my home-brew but also different in interesting ways.

Definitely getting the other two books, as well!

Has Legends Arise its own M.A.C.S. adventure generator? I know there was one in the previous Immortal Legends but I if this new version of Shaintar does include it or not.

There is a plot point of sorts tied to the book, but no adventure generator in either Legends Arise or Legends Unleashed that I'm finding. There are hooks throughout the book which could be built on, but more a world setting source.

So only previous Shaintar Immortal Legends has the M.A.C.S.
Thanks

That would be correct. I just went through both core books and the original Immortal Legends - M.A.C.S only appears in Immortal Legends. The kickstarter for the Thundering Skies campaign book just wrapped up back in April, so it might re-introduce the M.A.C.S, but I'm not sure the approach would fit the storyline/plotpoint that was the driving force behind it (coming from the community Justice & Life campaign).

So if someone is buying their first Shainar book, is this Legends Arise the way to go or is Immortal Legends a better option?
Also does Legends Arise have enough world information or is it mostly rules? I'd like to use the world with another system as well :)

How does this product compare with Shaintar: Immortal Legends by Talisman Studios (ISBN 1-935032-00-3)? The blurbs look really similar and I'm wondering how much overlap would exist between the two products.

Thanks! Looking on the SW discussion boards, I noticed references to a third book that the title was undecided for. Is that still in the works? Unfortunately I missed the Kickstarter for Unleashed (obviously!)

Not as such, but there are three 9-point campaign outlines that connect to all of the other world information points in the book, along with a huge selection of denizens and adversaries.

What's the difference between the Softcover Premium and Softcover Standard?

The colors and images are a tad crisper and the paper a tad nicer. To be completely honest, however, I should probably take the Softcover Premium down; the Softcover Standard version is plenty gorgeous and very cost-effective. If you want a real premium product, the Hardcover Premium does the job.

If you want something that doubles as coffee table and game book, get the HCP; otherwise, I recommend the SCS.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
