In the early days of the game, the Illusionist was introduced to provide a slightly different take on the magic-user, even before spells had categories (Charm, Illusion, Evocation, etc). Second edition created specialists of each magic type, but did away with the uniqueness of the Illusionist by letting a general mage have access to all spells.
This is an attempt to duplicate the uniqueness of Illusionist,... [click here for more] |

Issue 8 of Dyson's Dodecahedron is dedicated to the Trouble at Imp Brücke - a sandbox-style adventure location for OSR characters of levels 6-7 (or so). It isn't so much an adventure as an adventure location infested with goblins well beyond their "appropriate" level, the dark heart of the stirges, and many, many cheeses!
All crammed into a 12-page digest-sized zine, and topped off with a random... [click here for more] |

The seventh issue of Dyson's Dodecahedron brings you not one, not three, but 130 alternate character classes for Labyrinth Lord games. Best of all they fit in this nice little digest-sized 12-page zine.
How did we achieve such a masterpiece of miniaturization you ask? Not through quantum transistors, but through the magic of random tables!

One thing I hear asked a lot in OSR circles is how to do spellcasters who use freeform magic, in the vein of Ars Magica or Mage: the Awakening.
Well, here's my response to that, the Conjuror. It's pretty simple. Rather than spell slots and levels, the conjuror gets to combine Aspects and Processes to create effects on the fly. Simply combine 'create' and 'fire' to make a fireball, or similar.
It's... [click here for more] |
