Horror Cards

with deckbox
Premium US Poker Card(s)

Have you ever wanted to relay to a player in private something horrid that their character witnesses?

Are characters in your campaigns prone to slowly losing their sanity?

Sometimes telling them outright breaks the immersion of the other players, hence why we made a deck of cards with horrible things that they have been the unfortunate witness to. Are the events described on the card really happening, or is it just the delusions of a mind slowly losing grip on reality? Only the Game Master knows...

Examples include:

"You feel something moving in your teeth, for just a brief moment, like they were some sort of mollusk or oyster, and the meat in the center decides to squirm about."

"That tree over there, you notice that it shifts it's weight and stretches before it goes back to pretending it is a tree."

"His skin looks like it is slipping and sagging, like it is some sort of mask concealing his real features. He mindlessly touches his face and moves the mask back into position, acting like you didn't notice."

This is a set of 52 cards, with backing that would fit with any game featuring eldritch horrors, and each one briefly describes a different event that the character witnesses... many of which are sure to make your players squirm or recoil in horror.

How do I print these from home? I bought the cards, but I refuse to print one card per page. I can't tile the pdf into multiple items per page.

The format of these cards, based on the full-sized preview, seems to be a single card-side per page. This might work for your print-on-demand files, but would be difficult to accurately convert over to a multi-card-per-page format for home printing, especially if you want to line up the backs.
Need idea, but the execution needs reformatting IMHO.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
