 Ambient Environments - Abandoned Carnival
 Regular price: $0.49
 Bundle price: $1.34

Abandoned Carnival

That’s right. This carnival is indeed abandoned…abandoned by the living. You’ll get a creepy vibe, that feeling of being watched, as you wander past the merry-go-round. The bound metal rides that once cheered up the many that came here, now creak in the background as they slowly deteriorate beyond repair. There’s the funhouse, only it’s no fun anymore. There is something inside watching you. YOU can feel it. So come on and enjoy the carnival, but don’t expect to get the thrill out of it that you used to.

Content: Creaking and bending metal from the dormant carnival rides in the vicinity. Soft wind. A subtle ambient drone to give it that subtle feeling of anticipation.

Uses: Can be used in...

The freaks come out at night. Somehow you've wandered through a cemetery. Were you dared or just not paying attention? Or maybe not on a dare? Maybe you’re there to ghost hunt, or just to hang ou because that's how you rollt? Or maybe you’re there to dig up a grave! That's just rude!

 Ambient Environments - Evil Laboratory
 Regular price: $0.49
 Bundle price: $1.34

Evil Laboratory

This lab is used for many things; research, experiments, and chemistry fun, but you’ll be hard pressed to find any of it helpful to the living. Once inside you’re surrounded by bubbling vats of who-knows-what, a tesla coil works constantly in the background, and what’s that? A body on the table…a cadaver…it’s torso is stitched and it's not dead yet. And who knows when the owner is coming back? And who knows when that cadaver is coming back too?

Content: Plenty of lab sound f/x. Bubbling liquid. Tesla sparks.

Uses: Perfect for an evil scientists or alien lab.

 Ambient Environments - Ghost Town
 Regular price: $0.49

Ghost Town

This once bustling town is no more. Not sure what happened here but it’s definitely abandoned and desolate and they left in a hurry. The cars seem like they have stopped on their way somewhere. Odd.

Uses: Like many soundscapes, this one is very versatile.  It can be used for many abandoned location settings as the sound effects and ambiance are non-descript.

Haunted Forest

They told you not to go into that forest but you didn’t listen did you? Well, now you’re here and you’re lost. It’s dark and there are many things here that could end you. I sure hope you have plenty of torches and someone to switch watch with when you camp. But I wouldn’t camp if I were you. It’s just a bad idea.

Content:  Mild ambient texture. Lots of thunder and lightning. Rain. Drenching rain. Dark forest-type critters and animals.

*If you'd like a similar track without the rain and thunder, check out The Dark Forest

 Ambient Environments - Haunted Mansion
 Regular price: $0.49
 Bundle price: $1.34

Haunted Mansion

version 1.1

You enter an apparently empty house. It was raining outside and you needed shelter. It looks a bit dilapidated but it will do. That is, until you start to hear “things.” You may want to rethink your choice of accommodations tonight. You might stand a better chance in that storm. There are plenty of things to be scared of out there but there's more stuff inside that can kill you. And it's all in a contained space.

Content:  Phantom footsteps, dragging chains, and disembodied whispery voices will give you everything you need to get that feel of a haunted abode. External rain and thunder. A mild drone to add texture in the background.

Ambient Environments - Zombie Lab Outbreak
 Regular price: $0.49
 Bundle price: $1.34

Zombie Lab Outbreak

I gotta admit, this is one of my favorite tracks. Imagine yourself in a lab right after a zombie outbreak. You were in your office just minding your own business and then the alarm sounded. An alarm you’ve never heard echoes through the hallways of this vast facility. You wander out to see what’s happened and then you see them. The Zed have gotten loose, or perhaps the virus has? Either way you’re doomed unless you get out of here fast. On this track you’ll hear plenty of zombies, a constant alarm reminding you of the threat and many other sound effects make this atmosphere very intense. You’ll need lot’s of luck and a big shotgun at your side.

Content: Constant threat alarm. Occasional zombie. Sc...

Listening to the soundscapes - for best results...

These soundscapes require nothing more than a decent listening apparatus that your players can hear and any software that can play MP3s (converted to CD/DVD will work too!). ;For best results, ;a system with a wide dynamic range will deliver the best quality whereas a laptop or bluetooth speaker, although portable and convenient, might not deliver the wide range of sound effects and may have the inablity to hear everything that's embedded in a particular soundscape. So keep this in mind when playing them. Of course, you'll be able to hear them just fine, but occasionally there are "sub" components that have been added to help round out the sound needed for a particular environment that may add some enhanced features on a larger system.

So, if you want to hear the soundscapes as intended and are particular and somewhat of a purist, like me, then a great sound system is advised--but not needed in order to have fun and enjoy the effects of any particular soundscape. I'm just picky and "picky" is not for everyone. Besides, the soundscapes will only enhanced a setting, but they can't run the fantastically awesome campaign that your players will enjoy and remember with upmost affection for years to come so much that in ten years they'll get together and ;reminisce ;about the "good 'ole times when your PC Troll, "Beorn the Vampire Killer" was beheaded by a fellow party member (ruining is nice armani suit) while under the influence of an NPC enemy vampire using Beorn as a puppet to infiltrate the party and the agency that hired them--not that that's ever happened to me or anything. ;That's where you come in.

Disclaimer

If you can't hear your soundscape very well, it may be the system and not the soundscape--sure, but that's not always the case. When each soundscape is launched, it's still considered in the "beta" stages and can be changed, tweaked and fine-tuned. So if you're experiencing problems with your soundscapes, please contact Ambient Environments, a.k.a. Gil Luna, or leave a review with the issue noted and I'll keep track and fix them as time allows. You'll be contacted, if you purchased the soundscape, when it's updated and will be able to download the new version for free. Happy listening!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
