Shark-bloods

Monstrous waves break against the rocks below, the rhythmic roaring of the ocean providing a backdrop to the confrontation. A lone figure stood with his back to the sea with five attackers closing on him with murderous intent. “Yer not fit for this world, fish!” jeered one of them. A rough gust of wind blew back the hood of the figure, revealing jet black eyes set into a shark-like face. A tooth-filled smile split his face ominously and he drew a wicked looking sword. The unruly gang hesitated.

They had expected another young half-breed, inexperienced and easy prey. This one slid easily into a fighting stance. “Come at me, then, lads. Let me show you what a true Shark-blood is capable of.”

Of all Lochivar’s creations, the Changed Ones known as “Shark-bloods” are by far the most relentless and the most singleminded. The archmage originally created them to act as water-borne hit-and-run soldiers to prey on Rekellian ships, but their ability to retain incredible focus over a long period of time made them ideal for a wide variety of tasks. Though the majority of them are still in service to the Black Hand there are many that have left the Jutar Wilds to seek a life of greater meaning than simple soldiering. These days, an encounter with a Shark-blood on the coast is almost an everyday occurrence for travellers. Though imbued with strong human traits they still retain much of their shark ancestors’ appearance and demeanor.

With this Freebie, we are opening our doors to the possibility of supporting the fastest growing incarnation of the oldest RPG in the world. Use this PDF to add an acquatic PC or NPC to your campaign or start a campaign focused around them. With three pages of content, get to know the Shark-bloods, part of a growing family of magically corrupted beings created by the mad wizard Lochivar! Prepare yourself for the Eiridia setting with this new race and three racial sub-types!

Enjoy the art provided by Jon Bass, the creative mind behind the artwork for the hit animated series, Archer (a personal favorite of all of us here at Silver Gryphon Games!).  Combined with the creative mind of Ben Overmyer, this free download kicks off our celebration of Discovery Channel's Shark Week for 2014!

Don't forget to check out last year's adventure for Shark Week, Djinn of the Deep, available for our Æther System and also for Savage Worlds, with a map graciously provided by DramaScape!

Works just fine, if you want a shark-race. Three subtypes give plenty of variety. I have yet to run them, as I haven't had an aquatic game yet. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
