Is the magic system more developed in the Swedish third edition? I would like to use Fantasy! to run OSR adventures and the magic of the first edition is very open to me for that.

Hi. I just bought this game and I have to say I really like it. Nice simple system...love it. Exactly what I was looking for. 6 sided dice based was another consideration as well as being printer friendly with artwork which it is.

I was going to print out the book but I see there are still typos to be corrected in the document. Are they still being worked on? I noticed someone below was sending in a word file with corrections. Is a revised pdf with corrections coming in the near future? Do you require any further proof reading? As I would like to help with that if needed. Very nice game. Very happy with my purchase. I would just like to print it after the typos are fixed. This will be the fantasy rpg that I run with my friends now.

Will the monster books for this rpg be coming in English to DriveThruRPG as well? Looking forward to those.

Love this game!

Here's a quick question for the designer: pages 38 and 39 discuss difficulty levels for spell casting actions; the lowest of which is 3.

It also says that the difficulty is equal to the attribute level of the target if applicable.

So, if I cast a spell on a complete dullard (Intelligence 1) that suggests he is a keen poker player, when he isn't and my card-sharp character subsequently challenge him to a game, is the difficulty level 3 (or 4, or 5) as determined by the referee or is the difficulty only 1, the same as the donkey-brained peasant's Intelligence?

Either way, how much mana does the spell cost me? Only one or 3 or more?

Many thanks

Mike

Only 1. But the spell costs 3 manapoints. That is at least how I would play. ...but the GM decide. Rulings, not rules, you know. :)

Sorry for the late answer.

I found many, many more grammatical/spelling errors, I was going to post them here, but if you have a word version you can email me, I'll happily go through the entire document and highlight errors in red with the suggested replacement.

I redox loaded it from here and it is updated.

Now for some more feedback.

-Falling table on 33 still has T's not D's
-The example on 40 still has a T not a D
-Bodvar and Lyssa still have T's and not D's as does the number of grumpy goblins encountered.
-Giant boar in adventure suffers the T not D too
-Level 1 wandering monster table has T not D
-Privy scene has T not D
-Armoury scene has 2 instances of T not D
-Trapprummet has T not D instance
-Kergarron has T not D
-The S in silver needs to be capitalised in the equipment section.

Hope this is helpful.

I have changed page 32 now, the Swedish paragraph had the same content as the one before it. And some other minor corrections. The file here has been updated.

If you already have bought the PDF, send it to me and I will replace it with the new one: tomasarfert at gmail dot com

Won't I automatically get the updated file if I re download it from here?

My pleasure about the feedback by the way.

Quick Q. Is there a reason a player forgoes all defensive dice if they are feeling crazy? It's seems arbitrary to always have to use 1D. Just curious.

There are a lot of "De" where "They" should be.

Also for other readers, there is a magic system, it's just very free form, wherein players create spell books based on effects and such, I like it, but some may not.

There are also no magic items listed, again just a paragraph saying basically GM fiat on these too.

Not a bad rule set.

Some quick feedback.

There are a lot of T's where D's should be in tables.

Page 32 still has a whole paragraph in Swedish.

K for koppar but the tables list it as C for copper.

The rules list Grief for for Elves but the example character lists it as Sorrow. Just for the record, I think Sorrow is a much better choice.

I'll post more as I re-read the rules.

I read a comment on rpg.net that the game has no magic system other than basically "if you want magic in your game then make it up for yourself". Is this correct?

No. There is a magic system, but is a minimalistic magic system. No written spells, you describe what you want to do. Then you make an action roll [Magic roll] where you add up your level in Presence and Magic and compare it to the difficulty of the spell you wish to cast.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
