Heroes of Morhost!

A Role Playing Game of Fangs, Fur and Steel.

It is a land of bright swords and ancient, lurking evil: of dark magics and ruins slumbering beneath the ice…

Heroes of Morhost is an RPG system that pits anthropomorphic characters against the challenges of a fantasy world.

  • A setting with clearly defined technology, cultures and magic.
  • Create characters from countless races of mammals and avians.
  • The flexibility to bring infinite character combinations of species, background and skills to life.

Swift, clear games mechanics will have characters generated and ready for adventure in no time. The game includes a staring adventure, and a mini campaign.

I have a question regarding melee, does everyone get an action during melee and thus they roll to hit versus an opponent or is that one roll per round of melee for everyone. for example fox wolf and bat are in melee , is it fox tries to hit wolf so they both roll winner hits, then wolfs turn so he tries to hit fox. they both roll to hit winner hits and does damage. or is it melee round, fox wolf and bat all roll once in the round winner hits and does damage. begin new round. ?

The combat system isn't in a D&D style "my go, then your go" turn system. There is just a single contested roll between each set of combatants.

Once battle is joined, characters that are fighting each other roll a contest of their fighting ability (as a contested skill roll). The loser of the roll takes a hit from the winner.

In your example above, the fox and wolf are in combat, so each rolls their (Dexterity Test Dice + their Fighting Ability Dice). The winner of the contested roll scores a hit on their opponent, and damage is then rolled gainst the loser.

What if all three are in combat?

Fox and Bat are fighting Wolf. Does Wolf make one roll, to be compared to both Fox's and Bat's rolls?

If you are outnumbered, you roll against each opponent in turn, but with 1 less dice for each opponent that you face.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
