Welcome to Clement Sector!

In 2210, scientists discovered a wormhole allowing travel to the opposite side of the Milky Way galaxy.  Once across, exploration teams discovered worlds far more suited to human habitation than those in star systems nearer to Earth.  Were they terraformed by some unknown race?  Are they just a coincidence in the vast diversity of the universe?

Over the ensuing years humans left Earth and began to colonize these worlds.  Nation-backed colonies.  Corporate colonies.  People who simply no longer felt compelled to remain on Earth.  The best and brightest.

In 2331, the unthinkable happened.  The wormhole collapsed leaving those in Clement Sector cut off from Earth.  Now these new worlds and new civilizations must stand on their own.

The year is 2342.  Adventure awaits!

Clement Sector is the core setting book for Gypsy Knights Games' science fiction universe.  This book ties together all of Gypsy Knights Games' subsector sourcebooks and colony books into a vibrant and growing space opera setting.

Clement Sector contains a history of the sector and humanity's expansion in the sector.  It has detailed maps showing all 16 subsectors from those which are fully settled to those where mankind has not yet set foot.

Clement Sector also details the Zimm Drive, the method of stellar travel in this setting, and showcases five commonly seen starships.  Deckplans, art, and statistics are provided for the Rucker-class merchant ship, Luxury-class yacht, Trailblazer-class scout, Atlas-class freighter, and Farragut-class destroyer.

The second edition of our core setting book, this edition also contains information from our popular Player's Guide, Career Companion, and Career Tracks.

Clement Sector is also filled with campaign and adventure seeds to allow you and your players to jump straight into the action.   If you crave more detail about these worlds, you can couple this book with our subsector sourcebooks and colony books for a rich tapestry on which to base your adventures.

Welcome to Clement Sector!  Adventure awaits you!

So I switched to Acrobat and now it prints just fine. Thanks for the clue.

I have a problem with this product. None of the subsector maps will print for me, despite trying all of the different updates. When I try to print, I get numerous pages with a single line of computer talk symbols across the top. This is the only product of yours that does that.

That is truly odd. I've no idea why that would happen. After I read your comment, I printed the Hub Subsector map without trouble using Acrobat.

I'll look into it and see if I can figure out why that is happening for you.

I got an email saying this has been updated and there's an additional Clement_Sector_CE6218.pdf? It looks identical with the older one? What's in the update?

Some errors had been noted over the past year and we've repaired those errors. The skill "Profession" was used in some of the careers when what was meant was "Trade". Many of the instances of Medic skill did not note that there are subskills associated with Medic. There were a handful of grammar errors and a couple of bad page calls.

In addition, the "augment" section (mentioned by Wesley M below) which was partial and should not have survived the change from Mongoose Traveller rules to Clement Sector: The Rules has now been excised.

Thanks for the answer.
Just to be clear, CE6218 is the latest update?

Yes, that's correct.

How can I tell which version of the Core Setting Book I have? Mine says on page 200 I should refer to "The Main Rulebook" to find list of augments available. However, in looking at Clement Sector: The Rules I can't seem to find any augments listed.

Sadly, I have to admit that what you have found is a piece of errata. That is something which has slipped through our net (and will now be repaired ASAP). Originally, when Clement Sector was a setting of Traveller, that section was meant to direct you to a Traveller rulebook. That section was meant to be excised during the layout phase of the new version and we missed it.

My apologies for the confusion.

Alterations to humans are included in Tree of Life: Altrants in Clement Sector. Again, sorry for the confusion but thanks for pointing out our error. We will fix it ASAP.

Thank you for the clarification. I have another question. For the Clement Sector where would I find information for cybernetic options? Maybe I'm overlooking them, but I can't seem to find any in either the core book or the setting book.
Customer avatar
John W February 27, 2018 6:39 pm UTC
No problem. The cybernetics that we currently have available is on p.201 of the setting book with the handcomps, mindcomps, and software. There is a cybernetics book forthcoming that will explore that topic further.

Is there ever going to be a character sheet released specific to Clement Sector?
Customer avatar
John W February 14, 2017 7:25 pm UTC
Yes. We had a fillable character sheet for the old Mongoose version and we will have something similar for this version in the near future.

I was hoping the new skills would align more with how Cepheus Engine has them laid out vs the MgT skill lists. Not a big deal tho. Thanks for the quick reply.

In case you missed it, the character sheet has been posted. Hope it works well for you!

What are the differences to the Traveller edition?
Are you referring to the Traveller OGL?
Customer avatar
John W April 15, 2016 4:11 pm UTC
First off, let me say that if you have the Traveller 1e version, you should go to your updates. You should be able to download this version for free until May 22.

Second, this uses the Science fiction 2d6 OGL (formerly known as Mongoose Traveller 1e). So the rules are not different from the original "Traveller" version of this book.

Among the differences are these:

1> This book includes the information from the original Clement Sector, the Player's Guide, Career Companion, and Career Track 1: Medic.
2> This book contains a detailed history of the setting from 2041 to 2342 (the current date within the setting).
3> There are a number of changes with the way the Zimm Drive works.
4> It has a new layout and much of the art has been updated or changed.

I hope that helps. As I say though, if you have already purchased the original Clement Sector (and you are reading this before May 22, 2016), you should be able to go to your...See more

I try downloading the file CS2 OGL from the 1e update but I get a file that gives a root object is missing or invalid message. I have downloaded several times and I still get the message.

Not sure why you are having the problem. Tech support for DTRPG might be able to help you. I can tell you that, after reading your message, I tried it and it worked.

I just downloaded it and it worked perfectly in my case. A great manual, thank you very much for the update for free. But just to clear things up, what will happen after May 22?
Customer avatar
John W April 16, 2016 1:16 pm UTC
On May 22, the older version will go away and the offer of a free download for those who have the older version will expire. The OGL version will be continue to be here.

In addition, we're hoping to have a version out at that point that will work with the 2e of Mongoose. We cannot publish that version until Mongoose gives permission for third party publishers to publish 2e material.

I'm having the same problem today, root object missing. Re-downloaded all the other 1st edition files with no problem.

I've contacted my sales rep and hopefully she can pass it along to tech support. I hope they can solve this problem soon. Sorry you're having the problem.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
