5e x 5 Future Robots

This fourth expansion book following the Future and Modern Equipment books and requires the basic core found in the 5e x 5 (Fantasy) system which is a d20 converted to d100 system. It also requires either or both 5e x 5 Future Equipment (PL 6+) or 5e x 5 Modern Equipment (PL 5) ideally for the modern or future weapons and tools. Those two equipment books have the weapon and wealth information.  This book adds robot assembly to build your own robots or encounters. It is converted from MSRD. Five sample robots are included - at least one from each PL (modern 5 to future 8). These may be used as NPCs or even turned into encounters.

This book has no illustrations nor artwork. It's main feature is mixed double and single-column text to help reduce the page count. It has a table of contents with a simple page number in the upper corner. The cover is a simple black cover.

A 5e x 5 Character book is required to create player characters in a world which will use or fight the robots. The 5e x 5 Combat & Conditions is needed for combat prodeedures however there are some notes on how to use the gun feats in combat because guns are not found in the C&C book, rather they are found in the equipment books. Some of the 5e x 5 Monsters might be interesting if built into robots.

A future campaign may be doable without using either of the 5e x 5 Spells, 5e x5 Future Mecha or the 5e x 5 Equipment and Treasures (the first fantasy equipment) books.

These future robots use a flexible Purchase DC income and expenditure system found in the 5e x 5 Modern & Future which is abstract, instead of fantasy gold and silver. I show a chart with US $ amounts. However, any currency such as the Euro €, Pound £, Frank ƒ, or even Yen ¥ monetary systems can be used instead just by making your own monetary table using the Purchase DC values..

Recommended Required Companion Books

Until a Future Characters book is published you can alter the fantasy classes somewhat.

You may want 5e x 5 Modern Equipment, Future Equipment, and/or both depending on your technology level of campaign

For modern equipment and basic living expenses.

For futuristic weapons and advanced equipmennt primarily.

For drivable Mecha fighting robots.

If you need the animals, zombies, vampires, ghosts, werewolves and other mythical beasts or to reskin as alien creatures. Also in near the back are some fantasy NPCs that with a little effort can be turned into modern NPCs. For example, changing a fighter based NPC into an alien soldier or cyber double agent.

Monster book version choices

A. OGL SRD

This is our one-column raw text with minimal formatting.

B. Two-column

This version was our first upgrade which uses a combination of narrower margins and two-columns to compact the text significantly. There are neither illustrations nor artwork.

C. Commercially available art

This version uses commercially available art Peter found from several sources. Because of this, you may see art pieces found in other works. It uses creative commons, clip art, and public domain art.

D. Co-author Art version

It has all the features of the previous version with art found by Peter and also includes art by Ken of monsters that were not chosen or available with the commercially available art. Those pieces make this product a more unique version of the monster book.

In addition, depending on the demand for this version, new paintings may be added in the future.

The d20 into d100 conversion project

In this project, we sought to increase the available d100 OGL content. This converts an alternative core that can be used by those that like rolling two ten sided dice for their RPG gaming.

Our method was to change SRDv5.1, a few d20 OGL sources, some PRD, and a little SRDv3.5 from ability scores, skills, and saves that are d20 based (from values 1 to 30 into values 1 to 150), bonuses that are d20 based (from values -5 to +10 into values -25 to +50), and while preserving the multiple sided damage and hit points system. thousands of numbers were converted.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
