The Burning Goblins

The quiet village of Greenfork is in a state of uproar, scarred twisted looking goblins raided the village during the night and kidnapped the miller’s daughter. The Mayor has put out a call for adventurers to bring the girl back safely and end the goblins threat once and for all. This adventure starts just outside the village of Greenfork and thrusts players straight into the action.

This book contains a full length tabletop roleplaying fantasy adventure:

  • Advancing players from one to three.
  • Sixteen monsters and characters.
  • New Games Masters advice and guides.

A fantastic first adventure for new players, but more importantly this adventure was designed with first time Games Masters in mind, giving you as many tools as possible to help run the game.

This adventure is system neutral! It can be played with a variety of tabletop roleplaying systems. Both 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder are supported directly by including monster statistics in the appendix but this is only a guide.

This is great! I'd like to use it sometime when we're missing some people. Just one thing: Dungeons and Dragons and D&D are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast (but 5e isn't), so you might want to change it. So is Dungeon Master.

Also, how did you make the maps? They look great!

Too all who have this, check the CR , for the Pathfinder Monster list at the end of the Adventure....most of the CR are totally wrong...most 1 or 2, with 5-6 hit dice.......

This seems like I good adventure but I can't seem to find how many players it was built for. Either there is something obvious that I am missing or it should be easier to find.

In general terms the number of players is variable but four is the most common and recommended number for most systems and for this adventure as well. The adventure doesn't state exactly how many the players are required, my writing style and philosophy behind creating an experience however is explained in detail. Basically, if you need to make the encounters easy or harder then change them. This means you could run with 3 people and reduce the hp of the monsters or take away a creature in encounters to make them fair while still challenging and the opposite is true for more players.

What's the difference between the 4 files?
Two have 58 pages; the other two have 68 pages. Which is the most up to date?

Made a mistake when updating the files a while back, should be fixed now, there are two versions. One for online use which is smaller in size and one which has a slightly higher dpi count in case you want to print out any pages :)

Edit: If you are still seeing 4 files to download the (Burning_Goblins_web.pdf) (Burning_Goblins_Print.pdf) are the current versions!

Really great adventure - excited to try it with a small party of new players. One note: The text describing the A6 area is just a copy of the description of A5. There doesn't appear to be any descriptive text for A6.

Well damn! Thanks for the heads up! The free version is being updated right now, the descriptive text for A6 should read:

The large cavern ahead is filled with the overbearing scent of burnt meat, the air is thick with smoke and hot on the skin. Numerous fires burn softly around the room and shadows dance across the walls and ceiling. Built up against these walls are a series of stands and primitive scaffolds, peering down over a shelf of rock that is thrust against the far wall. In the center of this shelf is a large muscular goblin wearing a dented round cap helm of steel, sitting on a makeshift wooden throne. Many goblins are present, shouting and screaming at each other in their own tongue, clambering over the stands and around the throne itself.

Nice Adventure.
There is some mistake on the map of the ruined Keep. The room numbers above B5 are all "B1".

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
