THE ERA OF 3D PRINTABLE WARGAMES IS HERE!

World War Tesla™ is a 15mm scale alternate-history wargame by James M. Ward (author of TSR's Gamma World, Deities & Demigods, and Metamorphis Alpha) and Thomas A. Tullis, where Nikola Tesla’s more radical ideas such as death rays and force fields have come to fruition, changing the face of a world at war. Giant walking tanks, soldiers with rocket-packs, and flying machines armed with death rays rule the battlefield!

World War Tesla™ is the forefront of print-at-home wargaming. Say goodbye to the days of spending massive amounts of money to even have a small army to play a wargame, with World War Tesla™ even the largest vehicle can be printed for less than a dollar. All 3D printer .stl files for vehicles, troops, accessories, and even some terrain are provided, so there is no limit on how large your armies grow.

This game includes:

• Full color rulebook

• Unit cards

• 6 armored vehicle models

• 2 troop models

• 3 tree models

• 'Tesla Tower' objective marker

• 'Bunker Entrance' objective marker

• Dug-in markers

• Troop tray

• Firing arc template

• Full model assembly instruction manual

• Reference sheets

Has anyone had any luck assembling the Sturmpanzer IIa? No matter what quality and fill settings I use the slots in the legs are far too small for the tabs on the legs and the lower body. I have to file the tabs waaaay down and then the model is (unstable).

Any quick notions on how to open those slots up a pittle bit, or get the tabs to print a little smaller so things fit better?

Yes they are a bit tricky. I was able to dremmel the slots enough and cut the tabs enough that super glue was able to make a good bond. The next one I print gets a raft under the legs and I expect that will be the cure... keeping my fingers crossed

Without rescaling will these fit on a 5" bed?

Can you please clarify the use of the 'troop' models in the game.
Is each individual soldier a 'unit' for points cost or is a 'squad' worth 25 pts?
What is considered a 'squad'? 3?
Are 'troop trays' simply for ease of movement of more then one soldier or are there special rules for their use?

A Troop Squad consists of three soldiers (the point cost listed on the unit card is for the full squad, not each individual troop, thus a Rocket Trooper squad of three troops is 25 pts. total.) The troop tray is used for keeping the three troop figures organized, and they can also be removed one at a time to keep track of squad damage. Initially, how many of each piece do you recommend printing to start playing?

For two players? One of each 'mech' and maybe 12 troops to start. Two of each mech would make an even better battle! :)

2 questions:

1) How big are the models, or, more specifically, how big are their biggest pieces? I need to know to make sure my 3d printer has a large enough bed to accommodate them.

2) Is there any way to see a sample of the rules. While $20 isn't much I would really hate to buy the game only to discover that I really hate the game play. (Even a link to a video example of game play would be great!)

The largest piece is 4" across. The entire rulebook is viewable above under the cover image (click 'Full Size Preview'.) :)

There appears to be some scaling issues with some of the pieces. I am only on my second figure (The Tesla Tower opened/printed well) and so far the Vickers is mostly okay - the guns, and Engine 1 all open too big to fit (Engine 1 is opening 7 inches in diameter!). Is there a way to get some dimension information to scale these properly?

Thanks.

Are all the bases the same size? I am trying to figure out the scaling factors for my printer. Help?

Hi again,
Is the crater and all of these items supposed to print at the size they open in or do they need to be scaled down? That crater is huge! lol.
Thanks

We used them at that size to create large obstacles, but you can easily size them to whatever you like. :)

Hi Tom,
Yeah, kind of like 2 to 3 players taking on one "rule" controlled enemy to complete an objective or objectives. It lets everyone strategize about their own moves/actions against a single enemy. Just wondering if their are scenarios where we can play together but not against each other if that makes sense. Just like a cooperative board game would function like Pandemic, Gloomhaven, 7th Continent, etc... An objective like "Eliminate the opposing army" or "Advance on a position and hold it while being attacked", etc.. Can a set of rules for AI be followed so the team of humans can beat whatever?

Not sure if that is possible with this kind of game or not but this would be a fun way to play it.

Question: do the vehicle models print integral to the bases, or are the base files separate?
Customer avatar
Thomas T January 18, 2018 4:38 pm UTC
PUBLISHER
The model bases are separate (in the above photos, we printed the mech pieces in silver filament, and the bases with green filament, so no painting was necessary.) :)

This is a great introduction for what is possible with 3D printing. While I have not printed out everything yet, what I have printed out has shown that you can get good looking miniatures out of an FDM printer. These miniatures have been tuned for FDM printing. They have a terrific style that goes with the storyline(fluff) as well.

The ruleset itself is very well done. It is simple, in the best way possible. The rules are very streamlined. The Spark mechanic used in the game is a great example of a simple mechanism that creates a very customized, or adaptive way to play your forces.

I'd say my only real complaint, is a lack of scenarios. I'd like to see more, but this is really a very minor complaint and does not take away from how great this ruleset is.

I have been very impressed by the quality of this release by Fat Dragon Games. I really can't wait to see how they expand this game going forward.

Please note, the rules were sent to me by Fat Dragon...See more

Dude! In addition, I see easy segways into War of the Worlds or Greg Broadmore's Dr. Grordbort series. This just made running games in these genres a bit easier for myself. Probably excellent for convention/tournament play as well.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
