T2000 v1 Korean Peninsula Sourcebook

Korean Peninsula Sourcebook

From the mysterious Hermit Kingdom in the north, to the marvelous Land of the Morning Calm in the south, the Korean Peninsula Campaign Sourcebook is your guide to an exciting new setting for the Twilight: 2000 role-playing game. Korea's story is only hinted at in previous Twilight: 2000 publications. The Korean Peninsula Campaign Sourcebook picks up where those hints left off, building on them to craft a rich,  novel environment for role-playing adventure in the aftermath of World War III.

The Korean Peninsula Campaign Sourcebook is not a single adventure module, but rather a toolbox containing an abundance of material designed to help referees create an exciting campaign sandbox of potential adventures set in and around the Korean Peninsula. In this volume, referees and players will discover:

  • A brief history of WWIII in Korea.
  • Overviews of Korean geography and culture.
  • Orders of battle for the region's major combatants, including U.S. 8th Army, Soviet Yalu Front, the Republic of Korea Army and Marine Corps, and the [North] Korean People's Army.
  • Options for creating South Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Australian, New Zealand, Gurkha, North Korean, Bulgarian, and Hungarian characters.
  • Brief descriptions of the activities of regional intelligence agencies.
  • Brief biographies of major personalities.
  • Mission options and adventure seeds, including a horror-tinged mini-module.
  • A gazetteer providing brief descriptions of dozens of places of interest in the region.
  • Descriptions and specifications of weapons and equipment fielded by the South Korean, North Korean, and Japanese militaries, most never before detailed in official Twilight: 2000 publications.

The world of the Twilight 2000 Korea Sourcebook is built around the events of the timeline presented by the first iteration of Twilight 2000 (Version 1)- a divided Korea and extant, still-powerful Soviet Union- but is fully compatible with the Version 2.2 rules set. Referees should feel free to modify the setting to suit their own sensibilities.

Good sourcebook in an area not extensively covered in Twilight:2000 V.1. Worthy successor to the original product line!

So much information in this sourcebook, I love it. It would be supercool to have sourcebook for what is left of the U.S.S.R and modules for the various republics v1 timeline. You keep making material I will buy it.

The description says it follows the v1 timeline but is compatible with the v2.2 rules. Are the mechanics dual-statted or only for v2.2? I still prefer v1.

Actually, the way it is formatted, nothing is actually "statted".

All new equipment (save one vehicle which doesn't have a comparison - probably a typo) is listed as "use stats for XXX" (XXX being an item described in game), or "use stats for XXX, but modified as follows" for a couple vehicles. For the latter, the modifications are in v2.2 terms, but anyone with both editions can easily figure out a conversion factor. There's no NPC stats other than motivations (which are roughly the same in both)

For generating PCs, it tells you to use either US or Soviet char-gen methods for the base character, then by their career path (in some cases, Soviet for base character then US for branch/service, or vice-versa, to better simulate creating minor nations' militaries without having to do a multi-page section for each. There's guidelines for both Koreas, China, Japan, NZ, AU, and a number of eastern European countries that the Soviets sent troops from to fight in...See more

True. That was deliberate in that I wanted the module to be readily compatible with both v1.0 and v2.0 rules sets. Although I very strongly prefer the v1 timeline, as a game referee, I've always used the v2.2 rules. As a kid, the v1.0 seemed too complicated for my tastes. Also, game mechanics are not my strong suit. So, I suppose you could say that by not including stat blocks from either edition, I was trying to have my cake and eat it too. I'm sorry that the product description was somewhat misleading in that regard. Thank you for purchasing my work. I hope that you enjoy it.

Great stuff. The folks at GDW would've been blessed to have someone writing source material like this for them. Can't find good material like this out there any more for those of us die-hards who still enjoy this game system.

Bought the Sourcebook and already did my first read of it - and all I can say is WOW. Love to finally see an official Korean Sourcebook!
