Miskatonic Repository Samurai - Occupations and monsters adapted to Feudal Japan

Samurai, being several occupations and monsters adapted to the Sengoku Period of Japan, for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition

If you want somewhere different to set your Cthulhu games, what about ancient Japan?

Play as a samurai, a bushi, a ronin, geisha, shinto priest or a buddhist monk. Save the heimin ("peasant") villages or your diamyo ("lord") from the predations of a new list of horrors.  Drive a kappa away from the village fishing grounds, save your lord from the haunting of a kuei or rescue a village maiden from becoming the wife of a terrible oni.

Don't consider this fodder for a fanstay setting though; the monsters are just as sanity wrenching as anything else in the Cthulhu Mythos. It is a chance to play out horror stories in a medieval Japanese setting and a katana won't save your sanity!

The 8 page document includes six occupations and six monsters (seven if you include the Kuei 'demon-ghost').

I’ve just recently purchased the three pdfs and am really excited to start playing. There’s a very large well of frightening folklore from Japan with endless possibilities. I am currently playing Achtung and like the combat/ martial arts skills and am thinking of applying it to these. Maybe adding some more occupations like artisan, farmer, ninja etc.

I got both Samurai product and I really love them.

I do home that the creatures and weapon/armour will be expended in a near future as well as maybe a bit of Mythos infused Sengoku Jidai history.

Thank you for your appreciation! You're actually the first person to comment on them. I can certainly add more to the Sengoku setting, I just didn't know if they were popular or not!<br>
Thank you again, Andre!

I have added some more creatures and several suitable firearms for sale on DrivethruRPG, Andre. Just look for http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/243843/Miskatonic-Repository-Samurai-Firearms-and-Additional-Monsters . And all the monsters get full color art this time! I have also included full color art work for the monsters listed in the Miskatonic Repository Samurai in the new book but I haven't duplicated the stats. No reason for you to pay twice for statistics and numbers that you already have!

Sweet, that will be a great addition to the setting.

Can never go wrong with more flavorful creatures :)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
