The Rooms of Castle Direhold

The Rooms of Castle Direhold is a printable tile set compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl game.

Its Dynamic Modular Tile System combines the unique detail and individuality of a bespoke battle map with the re-usability and limitless combinations of a traditional modular map set. Its simple tile system is ideal for creating exciting and unique castle interior complexes, from vast fortresses to smaller buildings such as manor houses or temples.

The Digital Tiles

The digital version of The Rooms of Castle Direhold consists of a 300dpi PDF. It contains 20 floor tiles that can be printed (furnished or unfurnished) multiple times and arranged in limitless combinations. The large 8" X 10" tiles use the maximum print area on each page. Its vibrant art style has been designed with the gameplay experience in mind, allowing the player to view the tiles with maximum clarity. The set also includes 20 descriptive encounter cards, enabling the game master to create expansive, detailed adventures with minimum effort.

Also included is a ZIP file of 40 JPG files resized to 72dpi (1 inch=72px)  for Virtual Table Top gaming.

Customize the content in the PDF file with layers and buttons before you print.

All of the map tiles give you the ability to turn off door layers and block entrance points from one tile to another. You may even remove the furniture in each individual room.

Tile Contents

The 20 tiles allow the Game Master to create multiple different castle complexes

Descriptive Encounter Cards

Each tile also comes with a descriptive encounter card, giving an overview of the room(s) and a scenario that the Game Master may use if he so wishes.
The cards are usually split into 3 sections:

   1.   A description of the tile that the game master may read out to give the flavour of the rooms within.
   2.   An encounter that adventurers may find within the room.
   3.   Treasure that the Adventurers may find if the encounter is successfully completed.

The Printed Tiles

The printed version of The Rooms of Castle Direhold consists of  20 8” X 10” floor tiles and 20 descriptive encounter cards. The tiles are double-sided and UV-coated, allowing the player to draw onto the surface with wet erase markers.

1 side shows the rooms on the tile furnished, the other shows the rooms unfurnished.

The Dynamic Modular Tile System

The Dynamic Modular Tile System is a series of construction kits designed to help make the creation of an adventure a quick and easy process. It's ideal for both, the new games master designing his first adventure or a more experienced GM who wants to create an original adventure in a short amount of time.

Combine The Rooms of Castle Direhold together with The Walls of Castle Direhold (sold separately) to create huge citadel complexes for your adventurers to explore.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
