You're a superhero. Save the world!

In this issue you will find:

  • How to create your own supers adventures in Fate;
  • How to create interesting supers characters;
  • How to modify Fate rules and new ideas for rules and mechanics;
  • Premade Player characters and NPCs to start playing quickly;
  • New superpowers using the Venture City rules.

Fate Plus is a monthly zine that creates new ideas, adventures, tools, and new rules for Fate Core and FAE (Fate Accelerated). Fate Plus was originally published in Brazilian Portuguese. Now it's getting its English version. We're at Patreon, publishing new material on issues with about 7000 words of original content every month. Support our work!

This work would not be possible without the Patrons' support and without the strength that my team has given me—thank you Cezar Capacle, Cassio Rodrigo Cavalcanti and Tiago Jedson.

Hey there, I'm happy to finally be able to buy this issue ! (we discussed it a while ago on G+). I'm confused though, because apart from very few exceptions the collateral damage in the example powers only have positive effects, and nothing about unwanted negative effects that you accept to inflict around you in exchange.
Is that an oversight ?
Also what do you mean when you talk about "venture city second edition" ? I look around the internet and found nothing about a new edition ?
In any case, thanks for this issue, it's really useful and it convinced me to switch superpower systems for my superhero Fate game (I was using another Fate-powered ruleset but... it strays too far from Fate Core and its narrative strengths, and does its own very technical thing. I loved it at first but now I think Venture City, and your expanded rules, will suit me better, since I know Fate Core better that I did before)

Amaury, I'm sorry for the delay in replying to your comment. I did not receive notification in my e-mail. About your question: I use collateral damage in a positive (and exaggerated) way in my Fate games. I believe this reflected on this issue when I wrote. I usually compell the power aspect to make up for it, but I should have thought better about it, because not everyone does it.

"venture city second edition" is the expanded version of the scenario that Evil Hat released a few months after the success of the simple version. It is available on Evil Hat's DriveThruRPG and has more information on their site as well. It contains a complete version of each power (they added new features to the powers).

Thank you so much for your support. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying our zines. I'm always open to criticism so you can feel free to chat with me on my social networks.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
