“What you think of as pain is only a shadow. There is a secret song at the center of creation, and its sound is as razors through flesh. We are the light in the darkness, and through us lead paths to higher sensations, ultimate experiences!”

Hellpriests are insidious villains; sadistic foes who use their powers to corrupt good beings, so they may harvest their fallen souls for currency for their infernal, and abyssal masters. They are practitioners of foul divine magic and forbidden sorcery, using these spells to horrific, devastating effect against good-aligned enemies. When not wielding these powers, they rely on spiked chains and instruments of torture to inflict the most delicious pain imaginable.

A Hybrid class based on the Cleric and Sorcerer.

Includes Alternate Class Features and Favored Class Bonuses to help you flesh out this terrifying new class option.

for both spells, use the higher level version. so Planar Adaptation should be 7th and bestow curse is 4th. Thank you for the catch!

Minor comment. You have bestow curse listed as both a level 3 and level 4 spell in your spell lists....which is correct?

What I have written is really only an example and isn't supposed to be used in your product at least not until we have ironed some sort of agreement or compensation. Honestly, I disliked most of the abilities of the class as they seemed to ... random, the worst culprit is the summoned spiked chain. For me it's a real chin scratch-er.

Oh no, I like them, but wouldn't put them in here. If any potential reader/player likes your suggestions, I am sure they can just refer to this discussion and homebrew a rules call.

I am sorry the powers feel random to you, but we believe there are solid reasons for their inclusion. Thematically they tie this class to our campaign setting, hence the favored class options for the oyapok and udaeus; two of our core races. In other settings, they are best used as villains, which is described within.

We would love to see an original scary class design if you wanted to chat about that. Follow our Wayward Rogues Face Book page or email us at malikjoker at g mail. Thanks again for your thoughtful feedback, we can't get better without it.

I do not listen to anywhere near enough emo music for that description for that ability suggestion to resonate with me.

'No one knows my pain, please grant me all of your sympathies!'

But seriously, you think you should get paid for that?

Whoops ... forgot a bit of text:

Debased Casting (Ex): Knowing the intricacies of anguish and torment grants the hellpriest special insight into affecting an enemy which is currently suffering a pain or fear related effect. Any such enemy, which is targeted by one of the hellpriest's spell, suffers a -1 penalty to the saving throw as the hellpriest takes advantage of the pain and discomfort the target is experiencing. Prerequisite: x level.

I really do love these...Thinking: would adding them without removing other powers, make it too strong? What powers/abilities did you dislike the most, least thrilled with?

The following is a response to the creator of this product:

I believe the class should be revised or at the very least a theme or overriding defining class related ability needs to be added as there's really nothing much that jumps out at me as being truly "sorcerer" related (other than a mashed up spell list of divine/arcane). Another aspect I believe is sorely missing are options or talents that deal directly with the core of the fluff which should incorporate such things as pain (per the example I already provided), hell, devils, demons, torture and pact making etcetera.

One such class defining ability can be found below:

Thaumaturgy (Su or Ex): The hellpriest manifests their patrons desire and power through miracles known as thaumaturgy. These abilities reflect the constant and overwhelming desire to always placate and please their dark lord. These epiphanies manifest spontaneously and are usually the result of self-inflicted pain, torture or other profane and...See more

“What you think of as pain is only a shadow. There is a secret song at the center of creation, and its sound is as razors through flesh. We are the light in the darkness, and through us lead paths to higher sensations, ultimate experiences!”

So, basically...Cenobites? Clive Barker's "Theologians of the Gash" from The Hellbound Heart/Hellraiser? I don't mean to direct my poop in the vicinity of your cheerios, but my understanding was that Kytons (chain devils) had already been modified and expanded in Pathfinder to fit the role of Cenobite expies.

"No tears, they are a waste of good suffering!"

Kytons are often mistaken for devils, but they are their own race from the plane of Shadow, above the principals of Hell's denizens. This class allows prime material plane mortals to make pacts with an entity that may or may not be the secret master of the Kyton race. These mortals become "Explorers in the further regions of experience", but they are not true "kytons", they are something else...

And yes, this class is based on the image and abilities of "Theologians of The Order of the Gash", but not on the "kyton" which has a specific storyline in Pathfinder's Golarion setting. It is designed for evil cleric/sorcerers characters or for GM's to build grotesque villains. Kytons have a rigid hierarchy and this is for solitary baddies.

If you are attracted to kytons, this is the class for you!

That's what I figured the spiked chain stuff was about. I almost wanna buy this class just to see what all the fussing is about

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
