This map is a preview of a map pack being sold here on DriveThruRPG - feel free to download this and consider purchasing the full map pack, too!

Room Descriptions:

1a - The first trial, a room full of bookcases, and the path forward blocked by a magical beam that can only be deactivated by a switch nearby. But can it possibly be that easy? Maybe there lies a hint within the shelves of this odd stone library.

1b - The second trial, similarly blocked by a magical beam, contains a pair of braziers flanking a chest on both ends of the room. What do the chests contain? Are they secretly Mimics? Perhaps the braziers, when lit, can shed some light on the situation, and the way forward.

1c - The third trial, which seems to be a room much the same as the first. The bookcases are made of wood now, rather than stone, however - perhaps that's a clue? Yet another magical beam bars the way forward, so that's going to need to be deactivated somehow.

2 - The antechamber is a place to sit down, and rest a little while. That is, so long as the monsters lying in wait don't decide to make a snack out of any newcomers. Two stone archways, each magically glowing a different colour, lead to who-knows-where. Maybe they correspond with the colours of the archways in other rooms?

3 - A storage and experimenting room. Fairly basic, really (if you consider experiments on live human specimens to be the norm).

4 - A small treasure room, one of two rooms the archways in Room 2 lead to, this one contains some fun treasure for the adventuring party!

5 - The waiting room, and the other room the archways in Room 2 lead to. This one has yet another flipping archway, this time glowing an entirely separate colour from the other archways. Does that mean it leads further into this crazy lair?

6 - The ritual chamber is where the Mad Wizard carries out his maddest, maniacal magics - sometimes even with aspiring students in the audience!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
