To Live is to Suffer

Winter has come, will you survive?

Snow began to fall as the Betrayer placed a trinket on the raised stone altar in the middle of the Haunted Forest. The chirps of birds and howls of beasts sounded in disapproval. Each distant noise rising up through the forest in a fever pitch of panic. A cold wind whipped through the trees, chilling man and beast alike. The prophecy had come to pass, and so began the curse of Forever Winter. Winter’s Grasp would haunt the land for decades and all life on the world fought for its very survival. But the ultimate fate of the land is in your hands, for good or ill.

Slaves to Fate is an adventure for Genesys RPG. Slaves to Fate is 100% compatible with Realms of Terrinoth, or any other dark fantasy campaign. Slaves to Fate is meant as a prelude for a winter apocalypse, but also can be used as a one-shot if desired. Inside you will find 20 pages of dark fantasy content, including:

  • A modular adventure that can be set in Terrinoth or elsewhere.
  • A new species, the Doppelgänger, including 10 Sub-Species.
  • Original dark fantasy art.
  • Six new monsters
  • New mechanics: Corruption and Starvation
Genesys Core Rulebook and either Genesys Dice or the Genesys Dice App are required to use this product.

The adventure itself is great but I have found a few issues with the pdf.
I noticed on page 11 that the module refers to: "the supplied pregenerated characters". Is this a reference to those provided by FFG for RoT or are there some designed for this adventure that have not been included in the pdf?
Also on page 17, in regards to the redcaps, there is a copy of the notes for the guilty warrior.
The file itself also seems unoptimized - it is much larger than the RoT core pdf in terms of storage size and seems extremely slow on the devices I have tried it on.

Andrew,

Thanks for your comments. v1.4 has been uploaded and should fix the layout errors and solve the file bloat.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
