Tales of Crisis part 1

Here it is.  My TTRPG that I made.

Don't be scared by the file size.  It is just most of the different versions of the 1st document.

I switched it around a bit.  Apparently a license in general can be revoked or whatever.  I think it was a non exclusive licnese.  It is cool if people play with it.  I'm not going to be a dick about it.  I just am making rules for my current set of novels.  If people want to play in those rules that is cool I suppose.

The part dealing with experience is garbage.  Use your own system.  Even though this is a TTRPG this isn't meant to compete with others.  I really made it to make a hard rule system for novels.  If you follow my logic the levels really power boost you more than other systems.  In the novels I started referring to them as ascension paths to give you an idea.

Tales of crisis doesn't have that much in the way of lore.  I wanted to do that later.  I tried to build the bare bones for a TTRPG.  It should work.  If it doesn't tell me.  I imagine that there is class imbalance.  A planned imbalance is that I wanted full casters to suck level 1-9 but then be awesome later and martial classes the opposite.  I could have made this longer.

3/10/2020:  I'm going to start updating it like this I think.  I increased the cost of zealous charge but made some of it scale.  I took away the dervishes 10th level rapid attack for a defensive feature because flavor wise I didn't think that it was up to snuff with a defensive character.  Alphabetized the skills.

Just a heads up when I finally update this again(probably far in the future).  The breaks for the agent are going to replenish every hour now instead of every cycle.  Hopefully that makes them better to play.

2/6/2021:  I don't remember everytihng that I did.  However zealous charge now replenishes every hour.  Also movement can be increased by increasing physicality because that made sense.

5/31/2021: I fixed the bab progression for all 3 documents as well as uploading my current changes to the game.  Multiclassing therefore has been nerf.  The 3rd document has a new paladin class.  Also there are new feats and spells in the 2nd document.  Also I think there is a new subclass for the spellsword if memory serves.

9/13/2021:  i didn't add that much.  I just thought that I should update it because I'm doing a pivot and I probably won't come back to this for some time or maybe a long time.

10/28/2021: I didn't update it.  I just want to mention that I found a big mistake.  The psy blade of the psychic gets way too many feats.  It should be one at each of those levels.  Also in response I forgot to change things when I went to rapid attack.  So the psy blade should have rapid attack at levels 8 and 16.  Which overall is a nerf.  4 feats in a level is a typo.

7/22/2022:  Too many small changes to mention.  One big one is that there is morale now.

12/11/2023:  Too many small changes to mention.

Hey Author of the document here. I updated the documents because... this might be the last. I am thinking that I want to move on from ToC for my novels. And so I need to stop updating it. I am giving myself until the end of the move. I even already came up with the outline for the next novel already. I just don't want to write it. There are certain things about Bangseong that are good and there are certain things that wear on me. Even if I do move forward with writing it is probably near the end. I work for myself so I can choose to move on when I want to. Right now I'm feeling a story that is still fantasy. I can already think about it. And it is a little bit ToC inspired or influenced.

Part of the reason for leaving is ToC is a hard magic system. Like a super hard rigid magic system. I want to have more freedom. Also ToC classes are really powerful. I wanted powerful classes in the beginning, but after a while I want a character that has to worry about getting shot point blank...See more

Okay. Move was a typo it should say month. I think my keyboard sticks or something. But right now I'm thinking I'll move out of Bangseong, but keep ToC. But not. So there will be a ToC 2.0. But if I do any source material for ToC it will still be 1.0. ToC 2.0 won't be in any book completely. It can't due to what I'm thinking of. ToC 2.0 will have a portion describing an outline in future novels. I still want more creative freedom. But not having creative freedom is good too for a story. Just for now I want creative freedom.

Also I am thinking I will push out less books but they will be beefier. So I already was artificially lowering my books per year. I think this might lower it further. Basically it kind of changes the story telling feel of the work. Stories are told different. Anyway that is it. Enjoy the holidays.

Okay a big update. Apparently I wrote down armor defense threshold different from what I pictured in my head. Armor defense threshold rests on top of defense threshold. So if you have a defense threshold of 10 from attributes and you have armor that gives you 20 what would mean attacks of 9 or less miss, 10-29 hit the armor, and 30 and above straight up hit you. The armor usually provides damage reduction. I don't know if this was weird and it sounded weird in people's heads. I will update this eventually and that will be the change even though this is the way it was in my head the entire time. Sorry for the trouble if people are playing this. So you just want more of both. Maybe I will add restrictions to the pieces of armor themselves based on how restrictive they are.

Couple of updates. Bardic Influence now replenishes every hour. Segrin known spell ability has been nerfed in a way but I think people might find a way to break it. Ether touched ability to gain mana now is only up to 200 mana. So much better earlier on but worse later. The segrin ability is +2 spells known when you first learn it in a class. I'm sure there is multiclassing shenanigans but there you go. This is supposed to be for novels but there is no reason not to make it a functioning game. These changes will be there when I upload again.

Hey author here. I wonder if this is the place that I should mention this. I can totally create new units of measurement. I can create it in my stories as well. I can make it base 12 instead of base 10. However that would just be a pain and no one(including me) would really want to trudge through that. So that is why basically all the units of measurement are the same except a cycle. A cycle is just an adjustable unit of length of time where your character would get the benefits of rest. I'm even leaving it up to the tale coordinator what they have to do in that time as well.

This is the author. I don't know when I will update it but I changed it for the time being that the three full casters now don't get a stat decrease until they receive level 3 spells. The reason is because up until then they are basically like a worse half caster and they are the same as classes that can cast even level 2 spells until then. So from a story point of view it doesn't make sense yet that magic will burn them at this stage. I don't know if this makes them overpowered or not. So at level 20 the savant and theurge will only decrease their stats by 14 overall. Thaumaturge is a little different in that it oscillates between 1 and 2 for a while so it still does that. They just don't have drain in levels 1-6 now.

Oh I gave yergal the ability to use the claws on their hands as weapons. It is such a small change that I'm not going to update it but it is a 1d8 physical damage.

One additional thing. I don't know when I will update this but I was thinking about it and the mana regeneration that you get from your race replenishes that much mana per cycle. You guys already knew that. However one of the things that I'm doing is that it regenerates EACH mana pool by that amount per cycle. This is the benefit of getting multiple mana pools. It is a minor benefit but it is a benefit. Since there aren't multiple health pools I guess that won't come up.

Hey. I don't know if anyone will see this. But I'm seriously considering having rapid attack lower action point cost on attacks to be 10 instead of 5 typical(with fighter just getting a normal rapid attack 4 times). I have been going over it and I think I need to give them a buff of sorts. I want martial classes to be able to fight well and have a much better time going about it. I wonder for those that have tried the TTRPG in games if 5 is enough or not. It was supposed to be a really strong ability. I know if people see that with 5 reduction.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
