Somehow I cannot reconcile the cover with the description! If the topic of the book is the minoan bronze age then a cover with a half-naked warrior from classical antiquity is definitely not suitable and completely wrong. And if the cover has this problem, the some most likely also applies to all the other illustrations.

I think creators are allowed to take a little license with their fantasy universes. The content of the book is pretty good, so why deny yourself enjoyment of it because you don't think the cover art reflects that description well? Most comics and fantasy novels have inaccurate covers, it doesn't stop them being fun!

There is a difference betwenn fantasy novels and a fantasy-historical rpg setting. Fantasy novels generally have their own world and often marketing decides the design of the cover. But we are talking of an rpg product. Here all illustrations generally fit into the described setting. Comics and novels try to attract readers with their covers. Covers which have often nothing to do with the content. But the majority of rpg products have covers (and illustrations) which fit the content, because they are part of the immersion into the world. And that's the reason why this cover is wrong. It breaks the immersion. It tells a potential buyer that this book takes place in an classical Greek setting and not in a minoan bronze age setting. And it leaves potential buyer after reading the description of the book with the question what else might be wrong.

I enjoyed reading through the content. Folk stories of legends are different from historical content. I don't think we believe that there was a Minotaur under the city in a maze or that there was a lady with snakes for hair. A RPG set in this time period can choose to include these fantasy elements or exclude them and still be reasonable in my opinion, just like it can include luck, magic or other random elements to make the game have more depth. I don't think you can truly judge a book by its cover, how did you find the rest of the content? I liked the system and the ideas brought up and look forward to introducing it to my group.

I bought it and browsed through it and the only illustrations which are problematic are the cover, the shield on page 15 and the greek man on page 22. The woman on page 37 seems to be an atlantean, so her too modern looks are excused.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
