Giallo: The Memorial

I leave here part of my reply to your comments on "the worst of the bunch":
I would like to thank you for taking to time to write this comment on my faults as a horror scenario writer. I can't say that this was a rather constructive review, nor that it will help me improve anything about my style, but I will try to address your points. That the three scenarios are "vile" and "misogynistic" is entirely a matter of opinion, to which you are, of course, entitled to, but as the genre they (partly) try to emulate is now considered, well... vile and misogynistic... I think that was a compliment. I may have, after all, understood the concept of giallo. As for the rapes, they are, as everything on my scenarios, entirely optional. That is how they were designed, there are no predetermined events.
I do not consider myself an expert on that particular subgenre, though I have watched my fair share of Italian thrillers, giallo and not giallo. I daresay I am a horror connoisseur, but...See more I'm quite certain some could disagree with that too. I would like to point out there are a few paragraphs about the use of giallo tropes in this particular scenario and they do not seem to be in any way contradictory to what I have said before. Anyway, all the scenarios mention that they are PARTLY inspired by giallo, but not completely. Sure, I could have written three scenarios about the clichéd fedora wearing, black-gloved giallo killer, but I don't think that would have been enough to keep the role-playing crowd interested. Orpheum Lofts combines giallo tropes with soap-opera type characters and stories, The Memorial introduces Lars Von Trier's Riget into the mixed influences and The Sisters of the Seven Sins draws as much on giallo as it does on nunsploitation movies and Jesús Franco's filmography. As for the art, I will not comment much on that: I only wrote the text, the cover design (which is rather giallish, as it is inspired by the giallo book covers that named the genre) and layout weren't mine, though I very much approve of all the choices made. Being entirely faithful to the genre would probably turn this pages dull and repetitive.
