Martial Cultures: Arytis

The fabled City of Arytis has been guarded by her faithful Legionnaires every since the first settlers carved it out of the wilderness. First introduced in Martial Flavor, the City of Arytis is much more than just her Legions.

Want to know more about the city that the Legions guard? Learn about the politics of the city - who's running for what office, how they intend to get there, and who stands in their way. Why do duels happen, and what are the odds on one breaking out in the Council soon?

Check out a map of Arytis, including places of interest. Get a complete list of Legionnaire ranks, their insignia, and descriptions of their duties. Find out what honors a soldier can win, and which ones even civilians are eligible for. And don't forget about the crunch - five new alternate class features for Arytyn adventurers, and the feats to match.

The crunch is 4e D&D, but the fluff will fit any system, and there's a whole lot of it.

What can Martial Cultures: Arytis do for me?

If you're a DM, it gives you all the information you need to put the city in your campaign. There's a city map, information on local politics, descriptions of important NPCs, and lots of background on the Legion. There's also suggestions for ways of using an especially malevolent or benevolent version of Arytis.

If you're a player, there are more feats and class powers for you, plus a lot more information about the city that you can use when coming up with your backstory. You can decide which district you grew up in, which politicians you support, and what honors you were awarded while serving with the Legion.

Arytis clocks in at only 24 pages, but that’s more than enough to give an overview of the culture, as well as a map of the city, and some utility powers for the Rogue and Fighter. Now, if you’ve picked up Martial Flavor, you will notice a bit of ov [...]

I was interested to see this earlier and got a copy in the Gamers Helping Haiti bundle. Some very nice design for 4e, particularly for the shield-wall concept and slightly more down-to-earth variants of other than martial classes. I'd want to watch the [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
