Monsters Mythica: Black-Eyed Child
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/09/2020 16:21:52

As a mostly Western myth, the Black-Eyed Children are a chilling story to think about.

Thankfully, Underground Oracle Publishing have turned that myth into a lore-friendly small fiend (Demon) to hunt unsuspecting, good-natured folk.

Monsters Mythica: Black Eyed Child contains an abridged, adapted version of the myth along with a fantastic statblock, akin to a lower level Banshee. As always, the art is absolutely phenomenal, invoking the strange yet vulnerable sight of the Black-Eyed Child. A perfect addition for a grimdark campaign or more horror-centric adventure.

Monsters Mythica: Kelpie
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/09/2020 16:14:25

Ah, Underground Oracle Publishing venturing into monsters and creatures with Monsters Mythica: Kelpie. As a series, I cannot wait to see what lurks in the shadows. As for the Kelpie; by the Gods, what a terrifying sight.

The Kelpie myth has Celtic roots, and the inspiration for this monster has clearly influenced its design. It is endearing in its equine form, mysterious and inviting; and it's terrifying in its true form. The stat block is well balanced, although I would have loved if the myth's ability to shape change into human form remained, as a Large Fey foe, it is a formidable challenge.

Heprion's Guide: Gifts of Light
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/09/2020 12:39:49

This wonderful supplement, Heprion's Guide: Gifts of Light contains five items suited for Paladins, Clerics, Wizards and any other sort of character living in your world.

While the lore surrounded these legendary items tends to be of the good or lawful nature, it could be responsible for alignment shifts; for better or worse.

My personal favourite, the Draught of Glory, is capable of restoring limbs, scars, cure any disease and madness and increase every ability score by one. This divine boon, requires the drinker to gulf it down to the last drop--something I would roleplay as a feat on itself, taking possibly an hour--before the horn disintegrates. 2d12 months later, it returns to the Prime Material plane, to a random location, bathed in amber light for 1d3 days.

There's an adventure to be had there.

Remarkable Races: Satyrs
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/08/2020 05:52:28

The Remarkable Races: Satyrs supplement is a glorious thing.

The Satyrs in the Quaseloth setting (Underground Oracle Publishing's campaign setting) are predominantly found in the Arinast mountains, to the North. They are as hardy and strong-headed as you would expect, and the lore written around them is truly inspiring for anyone looking to play (or run) a Satyr. Worthy noting that the stats given to the race itself might be seen as overpowered, due to their 3 Ability Points and Proficiencies, but considering their history and comparing them to other D&D official racial traits/feats, they aren't unbalanced at all.

Along with the Primal Path: Path of Hoof and Horn subclass for Barbarians, you have everything you need to make an ass-kicking Satyr that truly shows the difference between Satyrs and Fauns.

Extraordinary Locations: Ice Hall
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/08/2020 05:28:40

In the Extraordinary Locations: Ice Hall supplement, we get to visit the home, or Winterark, of a hardy people.

A quick side-note by the designers mentions that although Ice Hall is set in Quaseloth, Underground Oracle Publishing's campaign setting, it can very easily be adapted to any campaign, run in any setting; and I'm very much inclined to agree.

It is an incredible location, extraordinary, if you will, with enough lore, description, places and faces to prepare a DM and inspire players. It includes plot hooks for one-shots or adventures, along with the interesting faces that give Ice Hall life. While some of the characters might lack in flaws to truly shape them into distinct people, Ice Hall is indeed a wonderful addition to any world, along with its history and past times!

Newdawn: The Festival of Spirit
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/08/2020 04:55:19

The Newdawn: The Festival of Spirit brings forward a Christmas-inspired holiday with plenty of beautiful lore to influence a world in its entirety.

From the origins of Newdawn, to its meaning and celebrations, this supplement includes all that a DM would need to add a beautiful holiday to their world, or a player would want to add to their faraway place of birth. The details are inspiring, as a Christmas-inspired holiday should be, and the addition of adventure hooks makes it all the better. Perhaps, this is what your world needs as it approaches the end of the year, or maybe, it could be your fuel for next year's family D&D one-shot!

Companions and Steeds: Sophiornelle
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/08/2020 04:35:09

In Companions and Steeds: Sophiornelle we are introduced to the marvellous beast, the Sophiornelle; a creature as beautiful as it is daunting.

The Sophiornelle are intelligent, illusive owl-like animals that keep to themselves in what has been deemed sonnets. The poetry, pun intended, of this design and lore choice is a perfect evocation of what such an animal could mean in many worlds that they are brought to. This supplement includes a myriad of descriptions and aids, from a possible adventure hook (or deus ex machina to avoid a TPK) to a well-balanced stat block.

This creature could very well be the next best companion to a good-aligned party, or a thorn on the side of an evil-aligned one.

Infested: Parasites For Your Game
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/08/2020 04:20:13

Infested: Parasites For Your Game adds something to your world that might as well been already there, in hiding. Ew.

Ranging from desert parasites to underground infestations, this supplement includes several opportunities to frighten players and aid DMs in add a whole new level of danger lurking in the shadows. The Wraith Kin depletes a certain amount of maximum hit point upon a saving throw fail. They hibernate in caves, out of sight and mind. What a perfect addition to the silent portion of a cave system or a lull in the Underdark. Ew.

Downtime Destinations: The Cantrip Cantina
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/07/2020 12:00:03

The Cantrip Cantina is a wonderful addition to any town, city or even hamlet in whatever world you're currently playing in. It's a tavern with lively patrons, a legendary owner and interesting gatherings. Besides its colourful contents, the Cantrip Cantina also provides players with two new cantrips and two magically-infused beverages.

This would be the perfect supplement to give your campaign's 'tavern start' a brand new twist and cocktail!

Sorcerous Origin: Fallen Angel
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/07/2020 09:25:55

If you ever looked at the Sorcerer subclass Draconic Bloodline and thought, that's a pinch of Dragonborn added to your character, that Sorcerous Origin: Fallen Angel is a pinch of Aasimar you might be looking for. It hits pretty similar beats as the Draconic Bloodline origin while at the same time feeling true to the Fallen Angel mythology of the Fallen Aaisimar and other myths.

It also includes a cantrip from the Arcane Compositions: New Bard-Specific Spells as part of a first-level feature, which should be more than enough incentive to peep at another glorious supplement!

Adventurer's Toolkit: Adventurer's Wagon Enhancements
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/07/2020 09:11:31

The enhancements to an adventurer's wagon are crucial for a life of adventuring. Sure, taking them from A to B is important, but what about bumping up the wagon's AC? Adding an oil chute and consequent fire ignition? Mounted Ballista? Yes please to all of that? Oh, what about direction? Stats? This supplements has it all, including characters or wagonsmiths that will aid players and often offer adventure hooks in themselves to explore their craft and possibly the world around them. As supplements goes, this one is a must have to any DM or group of players hoping to freshen up their adventuring modus operandi!

Adventurer's Toolkit: Traveling in Style
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/07/2020 08:59:39

The adventurer's wagon provided in this supplement is an absolute treat. Adding something like it to a party of adventurers could very well inspire a whole new level of adventuring altogether. There is an explicit and detailed description of how it has been constructed, which is handy if DMs need a way to weave it in their own worlds and cultures. There is an illustration of the outside, an illustration of the 'resting arrangement' and even a stat-block. Seriously.

The complimenting supplement of Wagon Enhancements is another must read to allow for your adventurers to take their wagons to whole different levels!

The Underground Oracle Quarterly #1
by Matthew F. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/27/2019 13:25:26

Keith and Jess do it again! This amazing Quarterly puts together the massive amount of work, blood, sweat, and tears that Underground Oracle has poured into their work since they started creating 3rd party supplements. Everything that has been released this quarter, along with some super-secret (hush hush) new stuff, only seen here in this supplement. Right now, as I type this, it is only $5.99, which is complete madness. Everything they put out into the world is polished, well done, and mechanically sound. I haven’t been able to find a single thing I would change. The lore that comes with every piece is so well thought out, I can imagine being right there, involved in whatever story is being told. With the new super-secret race, it is so easy to put yourself in the shoes of this new group of people and figure out how your character would live their life. Overall, this quarterly is fantastic and would be the perfect addition to any DM/GM/or Player’s repertoire. Or a great late holiday gift since I posted this after Christmas. Seriously, buy it, read it, all 68 pages. It’s worth it.

Druid Circle: Circle of the Unseely
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/20/2019 11:35:02

Ah, Underground Oracle Publishing back at it again with creepier, eviler subclasses for Player Characters.

The Circle of the Unseely is the answer to the question: What if Druids were influenced by the darker side of the Feywild?

It's essentially a eerie Druid smoothie with a Warlock flavour pack. Absolutely delicious. From wielding a target's shadows as weapons, to intimidating them with a disguise bearing the likeness of a Lord or Lady of the Feywild; this is the perfect circle for a stranger Druid.

Familiar Faces: Holderkin
by Miguel G. L. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/20/2019 07:20:01

Straight off the bat, the Holderkin is creepy as all hell. I think it's the teeth. No. I'm sure it's the teeth.

As for the actual familiar, the Holderkin's lore and stat block is really cool. Its Arcane Draw ability to detech magic, almost like a metal detector is an excellent tool to save up on spell slots. As for the Holderkin's personality... good luck.
