(G-Core) Guardian Universe X: Gods of the Guardian Universe X
by Katrina H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/11/2019 17:59:55

GUX: Gods of the Guardian Universe X is one of Jay's more interesting supplements for G-Core Prime.

This product is huge in scope. Not only is it over 70pgs of content, but what's inside is also huge. Most G-Core releases are about specific teams or organizations. This one deals with divinity itself.

Within its pages you will find information about about several pantheons ranging from the Norse to one made up of sentient mechanical beings. There are also stats for individual gods although all reflect things that have been happening in the Guardian Universe X setting.

It's fun because it details out things that are usually beyond most groups purview. This will give them a hint at the great universe and give them a chance to interact with it.

(G-Core) Guardian Universe X: US Guardians
by Katrina H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/19/2019 12:49:17

GUX: US Guardians, is the latest release in a series that details the Guardian Universe as its time line rolls along.

This one gives us a peak into the newest version of the United States Guardian program. It covers everything from its leadership and goals to several of it's most important members. The US Guardians within show both current teams. East Coast and West Coast.

The range of characters is quite diverse. At the top of the 'food chain' is Omega Prime, who is tasked with destroying other superhumans. There is also Uno, whose powers include absorbing kinetic energy and reusing it for a variety of effect.

My favorite character is Rad Lad. He's a character that was used in several examples in older editions of G-Core. It's fun to see him back.

GUX: US Guardians is a fun product because of all the information it provides as well as how many characters are presented.

Xandoria Gaiden (Swords & Wizardry)
by Katrina H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/01/2019 18:45:58

Xandoria Gaiden is an homage to the old console games of yesteryear. It was created to honor the much beloved sci-fi rpg games of the era.

Xandoria Gaiden acts as a doorway product. It was designed to act as a simple, sci-fi variation of the S&W system. I think it does a great job of it. The ideas within are fun and can be used for a lot of scenerios, even if one isn't using the presented setting.

I recommend this product because it's isn't rife with page after page of mechanics and modifiers. All that's needed is for the GM ti give it a read through to get going. Character creation is also easy, allowing for a group to be ready to go in no time.

(G-Core) Guardian Universe X: Japan (Modern FASERIP)
by Katrina H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 03/11/2019 23:19:19

First off, GU: Japan is big. It clocks in at 113 pages total, including covers and several pieces of full-page artwork.

GU: Japan has a lot of information in it. It includes a wealth of background information about Japan's Guardian program and the group responsible for investigating supernatural threats.

There are several pages of information about the different bases utilies by Japan's heroes and the devices used to protect them. It would have been nice to have some maps for these locations though.

The strength of this product is it's characters. GU: Japan has tons of NPC's ranging from the head of Japan's Guardian Program to Lord Sunder. A massively powerful demon lord that is the cause for so many of the island nations problems. As always Jay has gone to great lengths to create interesting characters that can be used a multitude of ways.

This is a great product for G-Core, it's spiritual predecessor or pretty much any super-hero based game.

(G-Core) Monsters Twilight 9
by Katrina H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/23/2018 08:43:39

Jay has made it a yearly tradition to release a new Monsters Twilight and this year is no exception.

This year's edition concentrates on Japanese creatures. These range from the relatively benign mu-onna, who seeks to protect children, to the datsue-ba that will flense a victim while they are still alive.

There are other disturbing creatures to be found within, and a couple graphic images. That withstanding it is a fun product that departs from the more typical western views on horror. It's nice to see such creatures portrayed in an original manner like this.

(G-Core) Guardian Universe X: Tiger Force Team 3
by Katrina H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/10/2018 12:05:26

Guardian Universe X: Tiger Force Team 3 is the most recent addition to Jay Libby's expansive Guardian Universe setting. It is designed for use with G-Core, a great game on it's own, but can easily be translated to other super-hero style games.

Tiger Force Team 3 has a definite Iron Age Feel. It is, as the name says, the third in a series of group working of a powerful organization. They are coimprised of some flesh-and blood heroes along with some potent robotic agents. The artificial units are designed to support the non-robotic members and when acting in concert can make a formidable opponent for villains and heroes alike.

I like this product for it's overall 'feel' and Jay's interesting take on the robotic teammates. I like the the best of all the characters protrayed here.

G-Core) Guardian Universe X: Prime & the Misfits
by Katrina H. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/06/2018 08:16:18

Prime & the Misfits is a book fo character profiles for G-Core. While it is set in the Guardian Universe X version of the setting, the information can easily be converted to any G-Core era or other similar game system.

This module doesn't contain a great amount of information about the setting, rather it consists of write-ups. The stats and backgrounds presented is a group of adventurers seeking to stop the galaxy-spanning Church of Eternal Life. It contains information on characters ranging from Mondo, a childlike powerhouse, to Psiggy the small but potent alien marital artist. There is a great deal of information about all the characters presented and enough detail that each could be used on their own as well as part of the team.

Two other G-Core books are recommended to get the most out of Prime & the Misfits; The Eternal Church of Life, and Deep Space. While both will add more background and ideas to use with Prime & the Misfits, neither are totally necessarly.

A fun product for supers player, G-Core or not.

Whethere you are playing in The G-Core world or your own these easy to add Rogues enhance any Superhero Game. Dozer is the stand out..... but Maul has becaome a favorite of my group and a sympathetic ant-Hero as well......and if the Jersey Crew were on TV Now.......admit it you would watch the show and root for poor Red Jersey Cheetah

(G-Core) Guardian Universe X: The Eternal Church of Life (Modern FASERIP)
by Christopher C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/10/2018 16:08:19

A lot of the recent G-Core releases have featured 'small' groups. Those that are a threat, but can be defeated with enough effort. The Eternal Church of Life may just defy that. The Church is one of the Guardian Universe's most widespread factions and one of my favorites.

This product has a myriad of details about the Eternal Church of Life. It fleshes out the Anti-Prime, it's leader and an immensly powerful being in his own right. It also talks about the heirarchy of the Church and how it handles different circumstances. There are stats for all sorts of Chruch member, ranging from simple cannon-fodder types through incredibly potent titans that crush the Anti-Prime's enemies.

Most importantly, there is an excellent backstory about the Church and its leader. Jay fills in the spaces hinted at before while creating a great faction. The Ethernal Church of life can fill all sorts of niches in a campain from a simple threat to an overwhelming power that can destroy the universe.

Well worth the price.

(G-Core) Commander Megaton and her Awesome Commandos
by Christopher C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/04/2018 12:03:45

As with the rest of the G-Core line, I enjoyed Commander Megaton. Jay takes a bit of a departure from the 'typical' G-Core model with this one. Instead of providing a lot of background material and a few characters, this one is all about the characters. There is only a short blurb about what's happining with the team at the beginning but that doesn't prevent it from being an intersting offering.

The product revolves around Commander Megaton (a mutant hedgehog with a penchant for violence) and her team of superhumans. They range from aliens that can calculate any possiblity to a being that can absorb any living creatire. The characters presented are intersting to read and there are plenty of fun things going on.

The main reason for the 4-star rating over a 5 is the lack of interaction between team members. What I mean is that since there is little overall background there isn't a lot of feel for how well the team operates as a whole. There are some connections made, but not enough for my tastes. It is mentioned that Jay plans to use the team as the basis for an upcoming session at a gaming convention. I imagine this is part of it, but it still feels a bit lacking in this regard.

Overall though, I think it's a fun product. The characters are intersting and could be used for most any type of supers campaign power level.

(G-Core) Guardian Universe X
by Christopher C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/13/2017 18:45:28

In this G-Core supplement, Jay ups the danger and intrique in his setting. The overall timeline has moved up several years and lots of things hae changed. A new president, laws and organizations have come to light while old groups struggle to ke it together. This is a great place for people new to the Guardian Universe setting to get started. While other products would be helpful, there is enough info provided to jump right in. As always the characters are easily converted to other systems and there are tons of ideas to mine.

The main reason I like this so much is that it is a love letter to things like 'Days of Future Past', the Ellis storylines in 'Stormwatch' and many other distopian supers comics. His writing has tightened up and his art is more dynamic than I've seen before.

(G-Core) Monsters Twilight 8
by Christopher C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/14/2017 22:05:28

Every year, around this time Jay releases a new edition of Monsters Twilight. These annual releases showcase a bit of the Guardian Universe that stands out for it's 'scare factor'. No supers world is complete without at least a touch of horror. Monsters Twilight 8 does a good job of adding it this year.

The premise is simple. An ancient artifact has been awakened and it's ability to raise the dead has become something of a... problem. Long dead Heroes have returned but are tainted by evil power.

As I said, it's a simple premise, but a fun one. Jay takes some standard faire and roughs it up a bit. The resurected Heroes are recognizable, yet have their own unique feel. Even the source of the trouble is interesting enough to inspire different campaigns that continue from here.
