Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad was a 'zine before its time. Being one of the early offerings in the DCC 'zine pantheon, it didn't enjoy the sort of readership that it would quickly recieve today. Filled with a number of useful things, by far the greatest piece in the issue is "Street Kids of Ur-Hadad" by Edgar Johnson. This adventure/toolkit provides everything a judge needs to set up urban adventure by creating frameworks of realistic neighborhoods. This alone is reason enough to purchase the issue. But wait, there's more.

The issue also is barely able to contain Wayne Snyder's Cave of the Maggot-Witch. A delightfully creepy and slightly uncomfortable piece to drop into any adventure or campaign. Snyder's art (or course) really brings the whole thing to gruesome life and it is just a grand bit of fun.

Of course, there are all the amazing write-ups on Ur-Hadad itself, written by Adam Muszkiewicz. Written in easy to digest chunks, none of the material hits that "background overload" that so many authors seem to try to cram down one's throat. Instead, Adam provides glimpses into various facets of the city - enough to be useful, but little enough to allow you room to pull in your inspirations.

Finally, there is the point that the majority of proceeds from the sale of the pdf version of this zine go to support the secular, non-partisan efforts of StandUp For Kids to fight for the 1.5 million homeless youth in the United States alone. Amazing game content AND social responsibility in one package. One literally cannot go wrong.

Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad is a 'zine that died too soon and we can only hope that it eventually rises from the dead, snorting bathsalts and bone powder, like some sort of un-dead wizard.

Excellent first issue of this zine. The funnel is excellent not only has a funnel, but provides a slew of random tables that will spark your imagination for any city adventure you are running. The writing and art support the 80s metal feel of this zine, giving it a unique flavor. Well worth purchasing!

"Know, pitiable children of today, that there was a time before Metal, when Man worked and fought and died and even made music with wood and bone, shell and stone." This is how the first chapter, Metal Gods, start. It speaks of history of Man, his captors, other beings, who used Metal, when Man knew Ore. In epic struggle, Man, with the help of Dwarves and knowing how to use Metal, defeated Elder captors and settled in The First City ...

As I see it, Metal Gods of Ur-Hadad is a mini campaign setting, sandbox style, for Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG. It is a great supplement for a great game. It includes Assassin generator, d11 (yes, you roll d11), some Mercenary guilds, a funnel adventure with kid gangs of Ur-Hadad, PLUS a robust city district/gang generator, which is my favourite and one of the best generators out there.

At the end, I must mention one more thing: The majority of money from the sale of Metal Gods PDFs goes to StandUp For Kids effort, which fights teenage homelessness. Be Metal and save some kids with your support for this great supplement of one of the best games ever written.

All written above is my opinion. English is not my native language, so sorry for/if any grammatical errors.
