Darkfast Dungeons is a tabletop RPG/Tactical War game for 1 to 4 players. The game is very well thought out and includes dozens of beautifully drawn cutout characters.
The game starts by picking a character, fighter, rogue, cleric or magic user and then randomly selecting talent cards and spell cards. This helps flesh out your character and provides some individuality. Blank cards are provided so you can create your own new combinations.
Gameplay includes random selection of room cards, and room contents. Tables are provided if you prefer rolling 6-sided dice instead of drawing cards, less clutter on your playing surface. Action is handled by rolling a six sided die, adding your ability score and comparing the result to a challenge, a monster, trap or secret.
Theres a lot a variety in the game and plenty of flexibility. i like the Abilities score, a single bonus to represent your character's skill set. This is a nice compromise to the extensive skill system you may see in more complex RPGs that can bog down a solo game.
The game is simple enough for quick play and deep enough to keep your interest. Replay is phenomenal. Okum Arts has also produced a couple adventure modules if you'd like a bit of story to guide and entertain you. These are also very well done and really capture the essence of AD&D old school.
I play mainly solo these days and I've tried a few different systems. They've all been very good, but this was my favorite. The author/artist is also very welcoming and accessible. He answered some questions right away. I'm looking forward to future updates and content.
