Nice! Good piece of music for a dramatic or sad scene. It sounds a little out of place in a fantasy setting, but it still works nicely. Good buy!

LIKED: It can loop around without sounding like it looked around.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
GRIM TALES: Mass Combat

Good little set of rules. I've been wanting to put a little mass combat in my games, but the dynamics just seemed to absurd. With a little reading, this should make it much more efficient and smooth.

LIKED: Easy to understand rules, and it can be used with most d20 systems I can think of.

DISLIKED: not much

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
Not bad. I was hoping for a little more, but the culture sections and the detail that went into fleshing out the civilization really help when using drow in a campaign.

LIKED: Good info, LOTS of info

DISLIKED: The drawings could have used some help, and they were lacking in a lot of areas where I couldn't visualize items, glyphs, things like that.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
Forbidden Arcana: Lost Spells
Publisher: Ronin Arts
by Michel M. d. C. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/15/2005 00:00:00

I always thought losing a spell should have been more dramatic than the thing just fizzing out. I pictured a caster trying to use magic missile and failing as something like someone trying to fure a gun and misfiring. Sure, nothing could happen, or maybe the gun is damaged, maybe there's an explosion, something.

This little pdf really brings in those kinds of scenarios. Since the effects work fro both PC and NPC spellcasters, it can be a good tactical move to try to disrupt a spell, thereby knocking out the NP caster and half his party. Really brings in a new element to battles if you have to worry about creating a fire storm instead of a healing spell.

LIKED: Good rules, easy to incorporate

DISLIKED: Not much. I wish there was a wider range of effects for the generic table, though.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Excellent! When feats aren't enough and a single cool move could take six different checks, here come the action feats. Easy to follow, some really cool things to do if the GM allows it.

LIKED: Easy to incorporate system, logical rules, and it won't unbalance the game if used right.

DISLIKED: Not enough feats! The Taverner's Trusty Tome
Publisher: Dark Quest Games

Every adventure I've been in eventually ends up at a tavern for some reason. Now there's a way to really make those encounters pop! This thing's got a section on assorted spirits, beers, wines, everything, not to mention equipment, NPCs, and even rules for making different drinks, running a tavern, a brewery, or messing people up with the right drink. A must read for anyone who wants to add some spice to those old dusty tavern encounters.

LIKED: Excellent quality and a lot of info, maybe more than I'll ever get to use.

DISLIKED: zip

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
If magic is low in your world and you really want to dish out some damage, find someone with some alchemy skills and have them take a look at this. Great way to help non-magical PC's and NPC's an edge against threats that might negate magic, like golems.

LIKED: Great variety of items and descriptions.

DISLIKED: Not much. Excellent! What better way to make the PCs work for their treasure than to have them get past a few baddies, find the chest, then have to work on opening the chest!

LIKED: Like other titles in the series, good amount of variety in the items listed, as well as a great length of explanation as to the history and abilities of each one.

DISLIKED: No pictures!
