Basic Dungeon Tiles : Expansion Set 4
    Publisher: Crooked Staff Publishing
    by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
    Date Added: 03/21/2017 09:04:03

At 14 pages, 12 are the maps. As with the previous expansion sets; this set adds more room 'shapes' to your dungeon maps. Graphics of the tiles are, as usual, very clear. The floor tiles of each room are very nicely detailed; some are cracked, which adds some age to the rooms.

A nice addition to the Basic Dungeon Tiles.

At 0.87 Pence/$1.07, it's well worth thte price.

Sword & Board: A Basic Fantasy Companion
    Publisher: Sword & Board
    by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
    Date Added: 03/07/2017 14:26:30

Out of 83 pages, 78 are the content. That includes 2 pages for the OGL, and 4 pages for the index. The first 2 pages are labelled A and B. There are 2 blank pages: P2 (4 on PDF reader), and P81 (83 on PDF reader).

It introduces extra races/species, class options, Equipment and spells. Races/species: Cambion (infernal ancestry), Drow, Goblin (basically, Goblin Bodgers from Iron Kingdoms), Nephilim (angelic ancestry), Starborn (little grey men), and Wildfolk (bestial human hybrid).

P26 (p28) has Encounter, which explains Ambshes, Engergy Drain, and Two Weapon Fighting. Equipment: familiar stuff (Sun rod, Thunderstone, etc).

Artwork: Some is good, others are ok.

Definitely worth adding to your Basic Fantasy collection. And best of all, it's FREE!

The Sabre RPG Fantasy Premium Edition (1e)
    Publisher: Dragonsbane Entertainment
    by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
    Date Added: 02/28/2017 14:19:19

At 352 pages, 350 are the content.

Sabre RPG is a D100 system party based on Runequest 6th Edition. Not only is it a class-less system; but also has a level-less approach to advancement.

There are over 50 combat and non-combat manoeuvres. Also 10 fields of magic.

I purchased this pdf and other Sabre PDFs about July last year (2016). There have been MANY regular updates since then (about 21 approximately for the various PDFs).

The website: www.sabrerpg.com or http://stephenlnowland.com.au/sabre/ is well worth visiting. There are 13 species/races (these include standard, exotic and hybrid/half races/species).

Attributes are: Strength, Agility, Constitution, Intelligence, willpower, Charisma.

Artwork: steadily appearing, and looking good. Plenty of blue text hyperlinks throughout for easy navigation.

At £2.40/$3.00 it's most definitely worth a look.

It has GM advice on designing unique magical items, Dilath's Hold at a Glance (Drow), Elven Town (2 pages), Red Talon village (2 pages), and GM advice on wondrous items. Some of the artwork dotted throughout is fairly good. Best of all, it's free!

    Dungeon Dressing: Wells
    Publisher: Raging Swan Press
    by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
    Date Added: 12/21/2016 09:38:15

Out of 11 pages, 7 are the content. This PDF covers wells this time. Very similar in outlay to Dungeon Dressing Walls, and DD chests.

Tablel A (2 pages), gives you characteristics & appearance, which covers getting the water, and water quality, common characteristics, climbing & falling into wells, and a d100 chart.

Table B (2 pages), give you dressing & features, and a d100 chart. Table C: traps & tricks (P6), covers 3 types of well, suffocating and water quality.

Page 7 has a rather gruesome picture of corpses around a well; which reminds me of the first LOTR film when the Fellowship are in Moria, and some foolish 'Took' drops a bucket down the well.

At £1.96/$2.45, it's a good addition to the Dungeon Dressing series.

Out of 11 pages, 8 are the content. Tablel A (2 pages), gives you characteristics & appearance, which covers construction and function, and a d100 chart.

Table B (2 pages), give you dressing & features, and a d100 chart. Table C: traps & tricks (P6) are rather unpleasant for the unwary.

Page 9 has a rather quaint 'ye olde school' picture of a 'priestly figure' peering through the door key hole, as if he were spying, so to speak. At £1.96/$2.45, it's rather good; as it addresses a part of the dungeon that is rarely 'used', so to speak.

    Date Added: 12/21/2016 08:50:21

At 13 pages, 7 pages are the content. Like the Dungeon Dressing: Chests, the content headings are very similar: Tablel A (2 pages), gives you characteristics & appearance, which covers construction, types of sarcophagi, cairns, terrain effects. Table B (2 pages), give you dressing & features. Table C: traps & tricks. Table D gives you haunts, which is rather nice :-)

At £1.96/$2.45, it's quite good, as it adds some extra details to the location/dungeon.

    Ephemeris
    Publisher: Nomadic Delirium Press
    by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
    Date Added: 12/02/2016 08:09:52

At 332 pages, 297 are the content. When trying to get a review or rwo for Ephemeris; I found this one: https://youtu.be/NQS6mRd- kdzQ I do agree with most of what he says (Tetsubo57). Editing: font size ok. Perhaps saved 20-30 pages by condensing some of the example classes shown (possible.)

Combat rounds are 10 seconds long. Weapons have a damage factor, which is multiplied by the difference between the attack and defence rolls.

The Arbonix to me do seem somewhat wierd, with 2 rows of 'nipples' on their chest to 'float'.

The system shouldn't be too hard to 'home rule' by GMs, if they wish to make changes for their campaign or scenario(s) they are running.

If you prefer using D6 instead of D20 for OGl; Ephemeris should do pretty much ok.

    At £4.00/$4.99, it's serviceable.

    Into the Darkness: Map 4
    Publisher: Crooked Staff Publishing
    by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
    Date Added: 11/04/2016 13:19:21

This contains a few files (zipped).

One is a 14 page PDF (12 are the content); 7 being normal map sections with a background, the other is 'printer friendly', no background. Another file is 4 pages (2 being the content). One page has the full map and some lines for notes, while the second pages is lined for more notes (as each section is numbered).

Artwork: What can I say? Pleasant to the eye as usual. No disappointments here. This map pack with the other fantasy maps, and the sci-fi, zombie, maps, etc, are worth purchasing. Adding this to the sewers map pack will be interesting.

At £1.22/$1.50, well worth the purchase.

    Stellar Wind 2nd Edition
    Publisher: Higher Dimension Games
    by Stephen Y. [Verified Purchaser]
    Date Added: 10/04/2016 15:10:19

Out of 416 pages, 412 are the content, with 9 1/2 pages listing the content. It is colour throughout. The advanced rules (p400-p410): get your science calculator out! (some nice equations). The character stats are: Strength, Dexterity, Stamina (Con?), Intelligence, Willpower, and Charisma (sound familiar?)

Races: 7 in all (some lizard or bug-like), one is a cat/centaur, another liooks like Jabba the Hutt on a diet (looks funny). Another is a flying bug. All-in-all, they might seem pretty interesting for players to play, as there is enough data on each species to give players a general idea how they 'work'.

Backgrounds: 10. Barbarian, Engineering, Industry, Intelligence, Law Enforcement, Medicine, Merchant, Military, Outlaw, and Science. Reputation: Prefessiona, Criminal, and Military. Skills: 49, covering a wide area.

Equipment & weapon: some are restricted, and not too bad a selection.

It reminds me of 2300AD & Traveller.

Artwork: Some nice CGI artwork here and there throughout the PDF.

There are suplpements to 'improve or help' what is already in the main book: Spacecraft & character builder, and a PDF of forms which are free!

At £11.52/$14.95, it's quite good (and seems cheaper than others). Worth a look at.
