Worth the price, given the potential for fun and how clean the presentation is.
This is a great small-group game, drinking optional. The rules are presented in a fully conversational manner, but the examples given are clear enough to follow if the normal presentation isn't one's thing. As for the game itself, it fully realizes the genre it's aping, while providing enough of a framework to expand a bit past that. There aren't a great many mechanics, but each one is spot on and easily provide the framework for the best kind of cooperative storytelling. If your idea of great RP sessions isn't shuffling minatures and rolling dice in a grand multi-hour wargame with the occassional trip to the bar to speak with NPCs, Double or Nothing is for you. Even if you aren't a weeb from the 90's.
It's great for a fun time with a few friends (especially friends the GM is currently shipping) or for a laugh at a con. Despite the premise, theres more than enough room in the game for both one-shots and campaigns, or even a legacy game where one Flirty Pair retires and another arises from the ashes and rubble. I'd suggest anybody grab a copy and give it a go.
