Illusionist characters have always been a fun character concept, but I have always been disappointed in their application as a specialist wizard. True, being a specialist was better treatment than they had in 1st Edition, but even in the 2nd and 3rd edition PHBs there was something lacking.
The Chymurge is an illusionist with style. It has what I was looking for in the official illusionist classes. One interesting trait is their use of cards. When a chymurge wants to cast a spell, he uses a card that symbolizes the correct spell. Another trait to casting spells with cards is that a chymurge might be able to emulate spells of other colours.
And now we know where the Deck of Illusions came from. Oh, and never let others see your hand.

LIKED: As with the other Colours of magic, it provides a good twist that makes me want to immediately make a character that uses said Colour and start playing. And that's really good, because I usually just glean d20 pdfs for ideas to use when I run other games (like GURPS 4e).

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
