Overall, the content of the book is good, really good and informative. The background of the pages could be lighter and the page numbers could be more prominent, but not a deal breaker.
Their could be more information the coroporations - especially Cybertronic [there are like 4, maybe 5 cybernetic items in the whole book] and... my pages are starting to fall apart from the binding and I barely use the book.
While aimed at post-apocalyptic settings, *Mutant Plant Monsters* can be used anywhere you need a bizarre plant: a mutation or genetically engineered trait in a science fiction setting might be a naturally occuring feature in a fantasy setting.
The book opens with a brief examination of the strengths and weaknesses of planets, most of which are not thought of immediately but are obvious when pointed out. A few examples of mutant plants are provided followed by almost 80 mutations/traits specific to plants....

- Packs a lot of action into a short amount of time, but nothing too long and tiresome.
- Has lots of ways the players can go about doing things, replayability is high.
- Plenty of flavor and high adventure.
- Honestly, none that I can think of.
All in all, I really like the ideas and what the designers were going for with this game line. The "80's as a genre" approach helps players who didn't get to see the Berlin Wall come down on live TV get into the vibe, and the included setting material gives plenty for both players and the GM to work with.
The execution, though, leaves a little bit to be desired. This Omni system used doesn't really have a lot of meat on its bones and while it helps keep sessions focused on the story, its lack of granularity and documentation (roughly 2/3 of the book itself is dedicated to setting and fluff) is vague to the point of really not knowing how the system should actually work at times. Newcomers to tabletop are going to love how this works; older hands like myself who have been around the block more than once might get a bit frustrated with the lack of structure.
P.S. There are quite a few grammatical errors for as short as this book is. I am sure there are a few of us Kickstarter backe...
When I purchased the Core Book I instantly became a fan of K&L. Later when the Shadow Lords Book came out I went ahead and purchased it knowing that I would certainly like it. Waited until the weekend to play with a friend and three hours in, and we were both in love with the contents of this book. It's very easy to spoil the story by getting into details through a review so I'll just say this. This is a must have to any K&L players out there! **High replayability value**
Note this review refers to version 5.09 last updated 7th June 2015 bought 2nd September 2018.
Traveller 5, oh how I wanted to love you.
Background, 1978 - Traveller was the first RPG I bought and I bought a most, if not all of the LBBs over the next few years. We drifted apart as I moved on to FGU's "Space Opera" and I never kept up with all of the subsequent versions.
Fast forward to around a year ago, I have a Sci-Fi loving, Fantasy hating son who's approaching "RPG age" so I decide to introduce him to RPGs via Traveller. I still have my LBBs but digging around on the internet I find out about all of these new versions. My interest is piqued in T5, but ultimately I go for Mongoose 2 because of a special offer on DTRPG but the Traveller 5 itch is still there, so, a few months on, I've taken the plunge.
First impression - Where's the Cover? Why did you not include the iconic Black and Red cover? When I double clicked on the pdf - that's what I was expecting - and not ...
What a fantastic supplimebt this is. People say Savage Worlds doesn't do fine detail well - this product shows that doesn't have to be true. People also say guns tend to feel the same in Savage Worlds - this product helps change that equation too. The examination of ammo and ammo types is well researched and well executed, and at 17 pages you get solid value for the price. If you run a modern-era Savage Worlds game, or are just looking for well-detaioed explainatione of various ammunition types and don't care about the numbers - you should absolutely have a look. I picked this up on a lark and it’s one of the best discoveries I've come across ...
This is the fifth and final book in the B/X essentials set of classic d&d rewrites by Gavin Norman and what a gem it is! As with the rest of the series, the layout is designed to be clear and consise, a retelling of the original B/X rules in a vastly superior order, one that puts all the DM needs in the right places and wherever possible, across double page spreads of linked material. This last book covers all the practical adventuring rules for the DM to build wilderless, city, town and dungeon. As in previous books, excellent artwork enhances the reading experience without overwhelming the piece.
I can't give it more than five stars, but I
would if I could....

Very pricey PDF for just the screen. For comparison, the just released RuneQuest screen is $14.99 and includes 160+ pages of additional reference material and four full-color maps. Also, I can't fathom why they wouldn't put all of the basic moves on it. The "Creating a Non-Player Character" panel is neat, but I'm not sure how much I'd actually reference it compared to the basic moves. Similarly, the Unique Moves list seems unnecessary, since these options are generally already spelled out for a specific creature, so it is only useful if you are creating new creatures on the fly. Again, not sure how much I'd use it. The other two panels are fine and what I'd expect on a screen....
I agree, the resolution is terrible and I hate the shadowing. Really not that useable in VTT when you need to zoom in and once you do that the map is blurry.
What is really needed is to remove the shadowing (because it makes some areas way to dark to see) and tripple the resolution.
Ok revised now that I see the **additional files**. Much higher resolution than I expected, these have to be 10x higher (I was only asking for 3x), but I can make due.
So 3 out 5 - get rid of the shadowing then 4 out of 5.
Many of the maps seem incomplete liek the Garage map, only see half the garage, soem of the ruins are the way, see onyl half or even less of most buildings....
Ich liebe Verschwörungen von Echsenmenschen und Hohlwelten :D
